  1. Gibson's strikeouts jump out. So do his walks. Rosario intrigues me. What's up with Del Rosario? Jermaine...hope they don't trade him for Kevin Jensen or something.
  2. Good for Meyer. And on a day when Hector stunk, no less.
  3. Berrios was awesome, ergo the front office handled this just right!
  4. Fergus Falls is serious? Cool factoid. I'm going to have to look that up. I've got an almanac right here in my shirt pocket.
  5. Psychologically, he's not riding in alone on his horse to lead the Twins out of a disastrous season, like last year. Instead, he's a new cast member of the "Mediocre Seven," and his job is to replace a guy who was sitting in a rocking chair and got shot in the chest with an arrow and when he did he tipped over backward and his shotgun went off and shot a hole in the roof. On the roof was a different guy, and that guy fell through the hole in the roof and landed on a fork. Luckily, Erv and Hector are doing a decent job of carrying the film so far, so Berrios can focus on being funny, or his K/BB, or whatever. Ah, geez. I just remembered we're playing the Indians.
  6. So it was a trap, and I am a jerk. Cool!
  7. This is the MLB TV game of the day, FYI. If you subscribe to MLB radio. Watching it on my phone. Funntreat so far.
  8. Am I just a big jerk for pointing this out, or is this some sort of trap? This was your 1001st post. Sorry. You probably got sucked into that Wilks thread. Like a moth to the flame, it was hard to not have a strong opinion about that transaction.
  9. Never thought about how big the gap is between #3 and #2/1. Telling. A sign of rebuilding?
  10. Thanks for pointing out Clay's numbers. That stuff can fall through the cracks. Same with Diaz, although he isn't as likely to fall through any cracks.
  11. I'm pretty late to this discussion. I'm failing to see what the Wilks move has to do with Berrios. Pretty unexciting; back in the day this would have been fine print Transaction stuff in the newspaper. Rucsinski for Wilks? Wake me when Burdi, et al are ready.
  12. That's all you can ask of a relief pitcher. Snuff out the threat and give the offense a chance. Nice job. Good to see him perform in a high leverage scenario.
  13. Even though they were behind by a few runs at the time, I am pleased to see Burdi come into a high pressure situation and get the job done. Could he do that against major leaguers, in front of 50,000 people? I always wonder about the psychology of the big call-up, and how friendships play out in these situations. Wouldn't it be nice to get your first call-up at the same time as a buddy? Ride the plane together; get a hotel, etc. Hold hands on the bench. Whatever. I don't know, I keep seeing the Burdi/Curtiss/Melotakis combo package. Who knows, maybe they hate each other. Just musing.
  14. The checkout lady at the grocery story was musing about Gallagher just last night. She wonders whatever happened to him. She did see him live once; had to wear a raincoat. Mauer and Gallagher have very little in common, but I can imagine that old lady asking wistfully about whatever happened to Joe, too.
  15. If it's a Hamels to the Rangers type trade, sure.
  16. Screenshotted. Thanks; this is the second time you've answered this for me. And thanks, Gun, as well. I've had limited experience embedding, and the way I tried it here wasn't translating.
  17. I still can't figure out how to embed stuff. Or search for a helpful tutorial on how to do it.
  18. All the shortstops in the organization celebrated the fact they moved up a rung yesterday. Well, I guess they didn't actually move up a rung...maybe the top rung was removed because it wasn't really good at being a ladder rung. Ok, I give up on that metaphor. I bet even Wander had a nice day in EST. For a look at both how to pronounce "Jermaine" as well as an inside look at the cultural challenges faced by players from Oceania, try this video: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/vDjJc_ZH6dk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> https://youtu.be/vDjJc_ZH6dk
  19. Great thread today. A rebellion needs all kinds; Luke's, Hans, a couple Chewies. And an Obi-Wan. Where did you dig up that old fossil? He may yet be of some use to us...
  20. Yet another opportunity for a national writer to talk about Miguel Sano has been missed: https://theringer.com/2017-mlb-aaron-judge-joey-gallo-home-run-expectations-99590f159fce I'm curious what some of the more statistically minded folks on here think, particularly when you get to the third table.
  21. I don't care who the Twins pick, as long as they don't screw it up. I don't want to have to read comments for the next twenty years about how they missed out on future hall of famer ______________. No pressure, Derek and Thad, your everlasting legacy is at stake. (did I just type that? am I back at seventh-grade Church camp resenting those cool preppy kids from the city?)
  22. I love metaphors. With this one, you'd have to say that every single hitter in baseball is a leaky house to some degree. One room? Two rooms? Is the water pouring in, or dripping like a water torture device? I think this metaphor, to make sense, would have to be quantified in some way, using stats or something. Leaking rooms as a percentage of square footage, or something.
  23. Sorry, but I have to take issue. This is NOT the clinical definition of insanity. Using the same old cliche over and over, completely out of context, however...nothing personal, I know it's just a thing people post on message boards, parroted from overuse in news articles: http://www.salon.com/2013/08/06/the_definition_of_insanity_is_the_most_overused_cliche_of_all_time/ There's also this, more clinical take: https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/in-therapy/200907/the-definition-insanity-is Ok, sorry yarn and all. Cross born; I'll take my soapbox as I leave. Resume talking amongst yourselves. PS: Count me as somewhat surprised (and pleased) they acted decisively, and also mea culpa (did I use that right?) as far as I was one who thought Gibby would turn a corner with Castro caddying. I. Was. Wrong.
  24. Last night made me nervous, "watching" on game day. And I don't disagree with the premise of this article. Still, it almost feels like it had been sitting in a drawer, waiting to be posted after a game in which Kinzler was shaky. The door is open for Duffy to embrace closing; when Kinzler was in trouble, I asked myself who they could call to clean up this mess, and I said Duffy, not Pressly. Man, I'd like to see Melo and the Burdman soon. Curtiss can be the drummer.
