  1. Yeah, I read Gardy's statement as it was batting him eighth to reduce the pressure, not removing the competition (such as it was). I expect by May sometime to see Hicks again hitting lead off.
  2. Actually, Taylor looks kind of intriguing. He'd probably get Colabello's spot on the 25 man, though.
  3. It's worth remembering that even after adding Kubel and Bartlett there are still two open spots on the 40-man. Mastroianni? Guerrier? Somebody else?
  4. Perhaps Illitch should have just left him the deed to the franchise in his will. Or maybe he did.
  5. Yeah, Bartlett is more or less this year's Jamie Carroll.
  6. I hope you have an enjoyable season in your own way. I plan to.
  7. A couple of weeks ago people had Gibson, Pinto, Hicks and Arcia all going to AAA. We now get to see them. Yup, it's going to take time to prepare them. That's not the end of the world.
  8. Given the material to work with, what would the good roster decisions have been?
  9. Berardino tweets something from his talk with Presley that makes it sound like another move is coming. Is there anything corroborating that?
  10. It does mean Arcia and Hicks will be playing every day. That's what people were asking for.
  11. Ich spreche ganz gut Deutsch. But don't confuse the purpose of something (like defense, or baseball) with the business of that thing. They are two very different animals. And with that, much to the relief of our hosts, I'll drop this line of conversation.
  12. From a business perspective? Not really. One may have larger and more costly boondoggles than the other.
  13. In my younger days I made a pretty decent living working for a large local defense contractor. Guess who was ultimately paying the bill?
  14. Played a bit in Jr. High. Nearsightedness ended that run. What I love about baseball is that it's a team sport that features great individual matchups. Plus, it means it's Summer. Lifelong Minnesotan, hence the Twins. I remember when they were on WTCN, sometimes preempting the Mel Jass Matinee Movie.
  15. This is why the Mesopotamians invented beer.
  16. http://www.mentalhealthmn.org/find-support/resource-list/crisis-lines In case anybody needs crisis counseling. I used to do computer support for MHAM so I can vouch for them.
  17. Best of luck to Scott, whether in AAA or MLB. Maybe the Braves will want him back, since his elbow hasn't fallen off this spring. The pitching staff actually looks competitive. Now some people have to step up at the plate.
  18. I find it interesting when a thread starts by assuming the front office is inept in order to demonstrate that the front office is inept. Reductio ad oops.
  19. You must mean "12 Years a Slave: Age of Ultron."
  20. It means about as much as ST hitting for Hicks last year. See what happens by the Ides of May.
  21. We're all bozos on this bus.* *Props to those who get the reference.
  22. Out of curiosity, how would we know he wasn't offered a relief roll in AAA, and asked if he could be traded somewhere he could try to continue starting instead? And the front office agreed it was for the best. There are lots of ways to spin this. Joy is in the ears that hear, not the mouth that speaks.
  23. I do have it on good authority that money can't buy me love. Wins? That's anybody's guess.
