  1. Confirming again why eyewitness testimony is so unreliable; we all see what we expect to, don't we? It does provide Penn and Teller with a nice living, though.
  2. Getting cats down from trees, help young ladies across the street, saving small children from being run over by a bus. You know, Joe Mauer stuff. Only older.
  3. Stephen Strangesie. It must be the Zola algorithm.
  4. Similarly, there is a difference between working the pitcher for a walk and being pitched around. As I watched that at-bat I mostly saw the latter; maybe that's my own bias kicking in. But it doesn't surprise me that Joe did better when there was a healthy Morneau hitting behind him. One wonders what impact a healthy Sano might have in the future.
  5. Golden Gophers fart in your general direction.
  6. So Joe isn't actually Spider-Man, then? Millions of disappointed youngsters weep.
  7. Ultimately that's what Nick's question asks. I suppose people are trying to answer it by example.
  8. I wonder how perceptions would change had Joe played most of his career in Fenway? I'd ask this because the hitter he most reminds me of is Wade Boggs. Definitely his personality does not.
  9. Yeah, although so are Florimon, Bartlett, Burton, Correia, etc., and pretty much any member of the coaching staff or front office. When you make thunderstorms the lightning is going to strike someplace.
  10. John Wayne or Jeff Bridges? By the way, Reusse has a nice article up today about the loss of Michael Hirschbeck. For my nickel, I think that bit deserves a lot more promotion than the piece which this whole morass was based on.
  11. So Nick, has your question been satisfactorily answered?
  12. Was in fact thinking it's time for the Tonkin Resolution.
  13. Kurt Suzuki, review magnet.
  14. I would imagine the baby rabbits think so.
  15. One of my favorites. My nephews called it 'The Rubber Chicken movie' when they were small.
  16. The report now is that Arcia is likely to go on the DL. No mention of who will be called up, but Mastroianni did have a six hit day yesterday.
  17. Still no Arcia or Willingham in the starting lineup today, but also no word either is going to the DL. Both should be available off the bench then, I guess.
  18. On the other hand, Reusse could polarize people writing about fly-fishing. He's a past master at it.
  19. The man has earned my respect. And that can apply to both author and subject.
  20. I'm going to spend mine on Captain America trading cards.
  21. Of course, in two months when the pitching has normalized to league average, and they can't buy a hit, we'll all be geniuses like Sid.
