  1. Are you saying that Torii is too bald?
  2. No, but it will happen. Buxton will be in AAA, so there will be an opening.
  3. My favorite Pelf moment was that gutty performance he gave the media in spring training after being told he was going to the bullpen. BTW, didn't Bert lambast Slowey for doing the same thing?
  4. I was one of those saying that Jepsen wasn't enough. As it turns out, the other move(s) the Twins should have made was for more bullpen help. Y'know, beyond one guy.
  5. Only if Donaldson, Trout, et. al. are really awful leaders.
  6. Professional athletes are so childish.
  7. Morris is closer to the team than any of us, and according to Neal this was not the first time someone around the organization said as such. Appatently Perkins isn't much of a gym rat, and there has been some concern that a lack of conditioning has led to Perk's late season swoons. Maybe he needs to lay off the fried walleye and pheasant and prairie dog and whatever he eats, and have a salad. Just saying.
  8. Listening to Barreiro the last couple weeks... Jack Morris was on and heavily implied that Perkins was out of shape. Then last week when Barreiro asked LEN3 to comment on what Morris said, Neal didn't name names but did say that he had heard that concern before from some inside Twins sources.
  9. Lindor is only 21? He can't be ready. Why are the Indians burning his service time?
  10. When you factor in the improvement of the Twins, along with the collapse of the Tigers, it's pretty clear what the difference was... dance parties. Torii came in and shook up the town like Kevin Bacon in Footloose.
  11. A stat needs to exist that calculates WAR + the number of games a player's leadership can be assumed to add. Call it FWAR or something. BTW, I think Hunter's leadership added ten wins. Look how bad the Tigers have been without him.
  12. I mean... just look at how successful four years of being led by Joe "Der Kommissar" Mauer and his Fun Police was...
  13. .6 WAR... but leading the majors in Clubhouse Loosening Factor (CLF).
  14. I would have gone with May, personally. I get that there was a lot of game left, and someone was going to need to soak up innings, but there was still plenty of time to bring in Achter. Once it was clear that Trout would hit in the 2nd, I would have had someone else warming up to pitch to him. Someone who is one of the best eight relievers on the team. Molitor is more avant-garde than Gardenhire was, but he's proving that he's still a very old-school manager.
  15. He's good, no doubt. He's even better when the bases are loaded... and when a team with a bad bullpen brings in one of their September call-ups to pitch to him, look out.
  16. I don't get bringing in Achter to face Trout with the bases juiced... I understand it was early, but that was a high-leverage out, and there was plenty of game left to use long relievers. Why use one of your worst relievers in that situation?
  17. Hunter started out loping after it like he was expecting it to go foul.
  18. Not a real good effort by Hunter in going after that ball in the corner.
  19. Jr. I was tempering my expectations because I don't want to put too much pressure on the kid.
  20. Offerman would have tried to bludgeon someone with the bat. Vargas isn't proven enough, but he was the best PH option and he'd already been used. So had Herrmann, although I think I'd rather PH Santana than him anyway. But really... Danny Santana shouldn't be PHing for anyone. Tell Buxton to bunt.
  21. I would have said Mays at one point. Now I'm not so sure about that. I'll say Griffey.
  22. Yup...look for a pitch you can elevate, or hit it behind the runner. The manager could help by starting the runners early.
  23. I don't disagree with anything you're saying. You can absolutely give Ryan credit for moves made under Smith's regime. You have to take the good with the bad, though. We've heard some evidence that Ryan was a big part of bringing in Sano, but that makes me wonder how much input Ryan had in all the moves that Smith gets pilloried over.
  24. I was apologizing to Smith because he got torched by the fans worse than he deserved, myself included.
  25. Personally I believe that the "good" Gardy teams didn't overachieve as much as the players were underrated. Gardy gets too much credit for those teams, just like he gets too much blame for more recent teams. I think he's a good manager... but just about every manager is pretty good as long as they're not a total boob.
