  1. Your welcome djm24, I know how it feels to sometimes stand alone & appreciate the support when given.
  2. I am grateful for any amount of time that Buck can give us in CF. Last season he gave us over 100 games; the 1st non-rehab offseason in a long time gives me optimism that he could give us record games this season. He's trending the right way, healthwise. Buck is a good hitter but his fielding & baserunning gets me excited. Last season (RH) Margot was supposed be our 2nd CFer but he was terrible, so Martin had to become our 2nd CFer & blocked our true 2nd CFer, Keirsey. Even though they obtained (RH) Bader, (LH) Keirsey should sub Buck against all RHPs that Buck sits out. With our MLB & MiLB CF depth, IMO Martin isn't needed at CF or even OF & he can be better served at 2B. CF is by far our best position.
  3. I agree with your trending. Capt. Jax is the clear #1. Leave Duran in a closing role, he'll be fine. There's too much hype linked to Coloumbe I have him behind Alcala & Stewart. Varland has to be in the group on the active roster. IMO Castellano is a keeper, he is worth hiding in the BP, starting him out at mop up & see what happens. Tonkin has value as low-mid leverage inning eater but IMO, I'd trust our pipeline to supply our needs. IMO that leaves Tonkin & Topo off the 8-man active BP.
  4. You don't understand, Mike, that no one wants to give Dobnak a chance because of his $3M price tag, not his abilities. If you understood what I wrote that if we pay down the $3M with unneeded player capital, a team would receive Dobnak free with the assurance of DFAing him w/o fear of losing him. IMO many teams would do this. Again I don't think he'll be a great SP but he does have value.
  5. I don't think CO prefers FB pitchers so they can watch their opponents hit HRs. MN has a far superior pitching staff than CO, yet MN sees value of keeping Dobnak. They could let him go like they have done to Rosario & Sano. So why wouldn't CO see much more value in Dobnak than MN? The thing is Dobnak would fill a need & doesn't have to be the #5 SP, if they don't need him on the 40 man they can DFA him & not worry about losing him; the problem is the $3M. so if we have one or more players with surplus value of $3M, so before we even start to negotiate for a player we need, we have filled 2 or more CO's needs with players we don't need. Shouldn't that be the goal for CO's FO? But you know what? It doesn't matter if you understand or agree with my idea. Because we both know full well that CO won't approach MN about Dobnak & Falvey, doesn't care about my ideas, he'll do what he feels comfortable doing. So this unfortunately will never happen under his term.
  6. Larnach made a step forward by ditching the old approach & reinventing himself. He is our best bat in LF & the others are better gloves. We are very deep in LF where it'll be very hard to find playing time for everyone who's deserving. & when you figure in DH, which is very deep, it'll be very difficult to give deserving players playing time. IMO it's overkill & some will get the s****y end again.
  7. (Twins have many players they could & should trade), What's the sense of hoarding players we don't need & not give them opportunities they need elsewhere that they won't get here, while we can obtain players we do & bring down payroll.
  8. That's why I said & have explained so many times before, that the Twins have to put a package together. Because of the overpay, the Twins will have pay down that amount with player capital (Twins have many players they could & should trade), to help CO fill the holes that they have.
  9. I believe the main idea of this thread is evaluating our present catching situation & if Cartaya & Camargo are able to take over backup catching duties w/o Vazquez. My answer & the main consensus is no & I added that I doubt the present catching would be able to do so next year, which we also have to look at & deal with now. I gave my suggestion. You think it isn't alright for the Astros to trade Salazar to the Twins but you think it's alright for them to trade him to the Mets? Mets don't need a 3rd catcher to be groomed as a backup; they need an established veteran starting catcher, Whereas, the Twins do. Astros have Hummel as their 4th catcher & I also offered Camargo. IMO HOU could use SPing, that's why I also offered Paddack. IMO switching 3rd catchers is no big deal but could really help the Twins in the future.
  10. It's clear the Twins have their favorites & those they put in the doghouse because they failed to be transformed into a player they wanted. That hype gets magnified on social media way out of proportion, & becomes toxic. I get criticized for being a certain player hater because I don't adhere to all their positive hype & also for being a certain player lover because I defend them against all the negative hype. We have to eliminate all this hype to better evaluate our players. Dobnak was a very good GB pitcher but didn't have a putaway pitch & batters kept fouling off pitches, driving up his pitch count. He came up with a new slider that was striking out batters. The Twins were ecstatic so they decided to extend him on the spot. Instead of letting Dobnak continue to be a good GB pitcher & incorporate that new slider to keep hitters off balance & let his fingers get used to that new pitch. They wanted to transform him into a SO pitcher, having him using that new slider all the time & quickly screwed up his middle finger. Now Dobnak should not be blamed for his new contract or injury, it should fall squarely on the Twins. Yet the displeasure of the Twins on Dobnak for not becoming the pitcher they wanted became very evident on social media & the animosity that should be on the Twins was placed on Dobnak. I don't say that Dobnak is this great SP that should be in the Twins rotation but he does have value & should be treated better by the Twins & fans. If Twins don't have a clear path for Dobnak then take the time to put together a package & sell it to teams like the ROX who would.
  11. IMO Camargo & Cartaya are not MLB ready yet. We need someone who is, not because of dumping Vazquez's salary (we have debated this, enough), But because we have been very fortunate that we've been healthy at catcher, it's not something that we can plan on. If Jeffers or Vazquez get injured for any amount of time, we have no one & we need someone that can take up the slack when Jeffers starts to wane in the 2nd half. I'll take this time to advocate to trade for Cesar Salazar, (HOU 3rd catcher & my sleeper catching candidate). He's behind Diaz & Caratini & Janek is probably their future catcher. Salazar is a good hitter & is a disciple of Martin Maldonado, he understands the defensive side very well. IMO Salazar is ready to take that next step of stepping in at catcher for an extended amount of time. We need Salazar not only for this season, but also next, when Vazquez is gone & the year after if it's not feasible to extend Jeffers (having a MLB-ready catcher will greatly help in negotiations). Salazar is very underrated & could be traded very cheaply. According to BTV we could trade Paddack & Camargo for Salazar & 2 AAA SPs as a base.
  12. I'm with you, Greg. The way they set up the OF & the addition of Bader & France will take away playing time from deserving Keirsey, Martin, Larnach & Miranda. Twins shouldn't have committed Martin to the OF but should have given the majority of his ST playing time at 2B & IMO should be on the active roster with Keirsey because the Twins desperately need their talents, now it's too late & maybe neither will make it.
  13. You are very accurate, Keirsey is a true CFer & that has a lot of value. That said, he should be ahead of Castro & Martin. And the fact that he's our only true LH CFer he should be the 1st in line to spell (RH) Buxton against RHPs. He's not only very good at defense & base paths, he also a pretty good hitter. Keirsey doesn't have very good trade value because he hasn't been given the opportunity to really establish himself. He hasn't been given that opportunity because of philosophy (that sucks). Last season was the perfect time to give Keirsey that opportunity. But instead they got Margot who blocked Keirsey. That decision hurt Keirsey & the Twins very much in many ways. One is not having Keirsey establish himself & increase his value. Keirsey got that elusive 1st HR out of the way last season so I expect good things from him this season. IMO it's time for the Twins to trust their players who have put in the time & produced. I wish him the very best.
  14. No. I don't have Twins TV. Why? Nature called, I guess I missed it.
  15. Just tuned in go Twins! Go SWR!
  16. I haven't forgotten Stewart. I've been patiently waiting for his return. Now, the goal should be to keep him healthy for the postseason, whatever that entails.
  17. He who should & who will be are 2 different things. Julien should be sent to AAA to learn 1B not ST. Our best option on 1B is Miranda who has the potential to be our best 1Bman. Baldelli, who preached 1B defense, 1B defense. Has now wants 1B hack France to be our primary 1Bman. They are bound & determined to have France & Julien much too often on the right side, that'll prove to be disastrous. We have Lewis, Lee & Castro at 3B we don't need Miranda at 3B, make him our primary 1B & some DH. But knowing Baldelli & how much they played this spring, Miranda is behind France, Gasper, & Julien. If Miranda gets hurt again while playing 3B (hope he doesn't) his production goes down again. Fans don't look at the stats & say what a bum he is. Don't blame Miranda, blame management. If the Twins don't invest in Miranda at 1B, Twins will never improve at 1B.
  18. Bingo! They screwed up his arm & maybe his mentality of going full bore. He usually land on the IL early. He had looked good in ST. Not a lot of stock was put on Canterino was able to give the Twins many MLB innings. We dreamed that he could be our secret weapon come post season. Varland looked even better than I expected. I've advocated for him to be a stable in the MLB BP & not waste his bullets in AAA.
  19. I wish they would have kept that strike box during pitches. The last looked like a strike not ball 4
  20. I hope this is a preview of what the regular season against the Yanks will look like.
  21. It's sickening listening to NYY debating against ABS. Let's get MLB fair.
  22. IMO NYY is the biggest opponents against the ABS because there is so much NYY bias.
