  1. Outman has had many opportunities & he has shown that he couldn't readjust. He has some value in defense & baserunning, but he should be kept out of the line-up because he's a lost cause, IMO, he has had too many lost ABs with the Twins. If we DFA him he'll go through but do we have anyone who can get by sitting on the bench so much & playing so little only to pinch-run & late defense at AAA?
  2. I'm happy that Jeffers framing improved. Many felt the ABS system would neutralize framing, but IMO it has little effect & in Jeffers' case it has elevated his stock because his accuracy of getting it right. Many say I hate Jeffers, but no, I'm a big fan. But I'm just pragmatic, when Boras became his agent, it was easy to see Jeffers wouldn't reasonably finish his career with the Twins. So I've advocated to trade him while his stock his up.
  3. It's a shame after Able pitched a great game & lost the chance of winning the game.
  4. Great game for Able to grow. Keep it going & let's get some insurance runs
  5. As I stated before, I like Caratini. Meaning I'm in favor of and see the need for a Caratini-type catcher. A promising young catcher you don't sign, you trade for. CWS keeps doing that. 1st they got Kory Lee from HOU, then they got Edgar Quero from LAA. After that, Kyle Teel from BOS, lately they picked up Drew Romo on waivers from CO (CO is worse than MN in developing catching). All these transactions have made Lee unnecessary. These catchers are accessible, they just have to be a priority, Which for the Twins, unfortunately, they aren't. LH hitting cOFers are the priority in MN.
  6. I understand that. Yet, IMO, 2 years away is being very generous, he hasn't faced upper MiLB pitching yet & he still has a long way to go with his defense. The odds that a prep catcher ever makes it to the bigs as a catcher (much less excels) are very slim. Meanwhile, Twins' record of developing catchers since Tanner Swanson left is very bad. So, forgive me if I don't share the same optimism as the past FO in Taite becoming our future successful catcher. IMO, we should trade Taite while his stock is high & get a promising young, MLB-ready catcher that has already been developed.
  7. I've been much more optimistic with this team than most, but I didn't think we had a chance with Ober against Framber. I've been pleasantly surprised by Twins' success against DET. Twins have been in almost all their games but lacked clutch hits & Sheltie's misnavigation in uncharted BP seas, resulting in regrettable losses. Twins' bats are starting to heat up & fortunate in coming in to face slumping DET, TOR & BOS at the right time. After these series; Twins could really turn around the season.
  8. Great correlation! Many Twins players who originate from the south tend to get going slowly in the cold. Twins have been in almost all their games. The losses are frustrating, but things are starting to heat up. Along with that come wins. Because of the changes, the Twins will surprise many pundits.
  9. IMO, CES's slump is injury-related, so I think that when he finds himself again, he could be an affordable RH bat factor in the future.
  10. I really liked CES, plus IMO we could possibly fit him on the 40 man, at least temporarily. There have also been 2 catchers who had been placed on waivers that I thought the Twins were crazy not to pick up. One is former Twin Ben Rortvedt, who went to TB last year as the primary catcher & started out great early but with primary catcher duties in hot summer Florida, it took a toll on him. He also had a great postseason with LAD subbing Smith. LAD liked him and was hoping he'd pass through waivers. He's not a primary catcher (they are very hard to come by), but as a left-handed-hitting defensive catcher, he'd be very impactful for the Twins as a tandem duo. Yes, we already have 3 catchers, but I'd trade one or two for Rortvedt.
  11. Hitting is better, defense is worse. I like Caratini but I’d have done it differently. As always, Jeffers is a great weak side tandem but he’s not a primary catcher. I can’t see signing him top dollar for a primary through Boras. We cannot afford him, so for years I have advocated for picking up a promising young MLB-ready catcher to take over for him.
  12. The Taj Bradley trade was the only trade that really benefited the Twins, from the sell-off. Yet, if Jax hadn’t wanted to be traded, this wouldn’t have happened. Because Falvey didn’t want to trade Jax. If a team targets a TB pitcher, TB will always come out on top. But if TB targets a player they like, they’ll give you a good deal from their surplus, like Odorizzi and Ryan. I sometime wonder how many times Falvey had turned down great trades that should have been done which included one of his favorite players like a LH cOFer or Julien.
  13. Many MN fans are pessimistic about this team. I was pessimistic about the team when they looked much better on paper. But now with Falvey gone, I’m much more optimistic, even though Falvey was involved with setting up this team and orchestrated this off-season
  14. Great rally started at the top of the order against Skubal, to cement a great pitching dual win for Bradley
  15. I’ve been blocked from this site for a long time. Thanks to Brock, I’m back. I’m limited only on my cellphone. Hope I can get back to my notebook because I really suck at texting on my phone
  16. I have my doubts at SS. I hope Lee will be respectable & I expect Fritzgerald will help. Castro isn't the greatest SS but he is an option that can deepen the position where we are thin. Can we trade for Lawlar (AZ) or different options with NYM?
  17. Duran had a healthier arm than Raya & Prielipp, plus we have fooled around with Canterino as a SP; where has that got us? Put Raya, Prielipp, Fiesta & Canterino in the BP. Johann Santana started out in the BP, so can everyone else. We have Lopez, Ryan, Ober & SWR as established SPs in the rotation. Have Matthews & the rest rotate as spot starters & long relief, to cover the 5th spot or when the others need a rest.
  18. Twins need to change how they evaluate & develop their players, as to be the best they can be. They look at Keirsey & say using Jerry Lewis's "The Nutty Professor" accent, "The data shows....... a 28 yr. old debuts in MLB will never make it". Using this point of view, they never gave Keirsey a chance. This is the point you missed. Unlike Keirsey, all the players you mentioned are not good & some of them should be DFAed, but they were priviledged & given many chances to prove themselves. Data doesn't show character & heart which really tells us what kind of players they can be. There are many that are late bloomers. They have the tools but are stagnant until something clicks. Look at Ernie Clement, who at 29 in AAA, was DFAed to TOR his hitting coach at TOR, never tried to make him into a slugger, just to be the best hitter he could be & something clicked. TOR gave Clement a chance & he helped TOR to advance to the World Series. It didn't surprise me that he was DFAed, it made me sad
  19. The system was full of LHH lackluster cOFers, so when Falvey dismantled the BP. He traded for more lackluster LHH cOFers, whom he loves to hoard. Twins needed to quit doing that & trade most of them away. Move Martin to 2B & Wallner to 1B/ DH. Gonzalez is hyped up & won't amount to much at the MLB level. IMO he needs to be traded to fill our needs. Keaschall, Fedco & McCusker could fill in the RHH cOF positions. We can clean house in the OF, & (unlike the BP sell off) not be negatively impacted.
  20. Emma has it all! Only question is health. I was hoping that Emma would impact the club last year. I hope that this winter league doesn't become a steady occurrence. Because many a good player get injured for legit reasons or just rough housing. I hope Emma can break with the team after ST.
  21. Twins had a top-notch catching strength with Tanner Swanson as MiLB catching coach, catching depth in LH-hitting All-Star Jason Castro, who they picked up, Mitch Garver, who should have been an All-Star, a good hitting 3rd catcher, Ryan Jeffers & promising upcoming LH hitting Ben Rortvedt. IMO, Thad Levine must have been responsible for that because after '19, when Falvey started to take over more control. Swanson was not promoted but was allowed to walk & Castro was not extended after '19. Falvey hand-picked backup catcher Jeffers & tore down the rest, leaving only Jeffers as the primary catcher. That has been a disaster. They picked up Vazquez as an expensive band-aid. Throughout that time, they had done nothing to strengthen & establish a future backstop. Here we are again, left with Jeffers as our primary catcher, in his walk year (if he isn't traded, which he should be, but because nothing was done, Twins may not have a choice). Falvey's actions have shown that he has put zero importance on catching. Letting Swanson walk, trading away key pieces, hiring the new MLB catching coach, Conger, who has failed to draft, develop or trade for a respectable catcher. LAD talked Falvey into picking up Cartaya when they couldn't develop him, In the hope MN could, when they had been failing to do so with everybody else. Yet when a proven MLB catcher was DFAed (Rortvedt) by LAD they failed to pick him up, but instead went with a more expensive catcher that has been rejected by most of the MLB teams as I predicted. Conger had done absolutely nothing to help us with catching, which he was hired to do. Maybe that is why they decided not to hire a catching coach? Funny, they have several pitching coaches, hitting coaches, INF & OF coaches, but no catching coach. I guess they don't deem it important. That they can figure it all out with analytics.
  22. You normally don't just enter the MLB & hit. You need many quality ABs, Keirsey never got them. Which is too bad because he was a great guy in the dugout. When he got some semblance of quality ABs he got some clutch hits. Wish him much good fortune, Twins loss.
