  1. Thanks Jeremy, for the info. Sounds like a step in the right direction.
  2. Agree with everybody. Not all pitchers can make that switch (Fernando comes to mind). But I think Jax could prosper much like Duffy and May did in that role. It'd be nice to have the FO give us a definite plan in how they plan to play out this pitching situation. So we all can be on the same page, instead of being left out in the lurch.

I get your point about them not giving us resources on their evaluations. But that's not to say they don't use resources when they make their values. When you select a player you can get a nice Fangraph stats. Negative trade values are tricky and are usually unfair which I usually deny. Normally to make them fair, the clubs would pay down part of their salaries along with the trade, like the Arenado trade in real life. In real life there are many variables which would effect a trade like maybe another team sees something in a player that most do not or a desperate need. Like I said before and I'm sure BTV will agree that they are not absolute. Many people are bias and others don't have great evaluation skills which may include some FOs. IMO BTV is nonbias on the most part

Thank you Top Gun for your response. I like your trade and I agree with you and many experts that the A's do need a 2B and Arraez would come in handy if they trade Chapman which is very likely. The end result is the A's will do what they deem best no matter what their fans want. I've gotten feedback also and some are enlightening in how to fine tune a trade. Which it should be in a real life situation to actualize a trade. P.S.: I like analogy of the trading baseball cards, my older brother would try this with me yet I'd trade anything for a Tony Oliva card.
  5. Ober's paid his dues, put in the work and stayed healthy, the next Ober will do the same. Many prospects will finally get their chance this season, hopefully Sands will stay healthy and do well.
  6. I got that after I watched the video. He's really impressive with his bat.
  7. Tommy Tanks is quite the name. I guess it fits his performance, he just can't be stopped.
  8. On my Mt Rushmore are #1 is Tony Oliva, because he gave his all for the Twins. Not only did he spent his entire playing career with the Twins, helped bring the Twins to the World Series, many All-Star games, he coached many years, still he goes to spring traing and anyway he can he promotes the Twins. #2 Harmon Killebrew, most of his HRs were hit in MN, he help bring the Twins to the World Series, many All-star games. #3 Rod Carew, many hits, many stolen homes, many All-Star games- negative no World Series. #4 Kirby Puckett, great short career with the Twins and brought us a World Series Championship All are in the HOF. Just missed is Joe Mauer, he spent his entire career with the Twins, many All-Star games, he's home grown but he never brought the Twins to the World Series. He should eventually get to the HOF.
  9. If we can nail Delauter, I'd be satisfied.

BTV stands for Baseball Trade Values. It's a website that gives a trade value on every single ball player in the system, where you can put together a fantasticized trade and when posted are given a chance to accept or deny those trades. Although they're not perfect, they give you a good consenses of a player's worth in a trade by reading reports, talking to scouts and managers. Like every real life trade, you can't just balance the value but you need to figure in the need, undetermined variables and how it effects the 40 man roster. That said I reject about 90% of the Twins proposed trades because they don't meet my criteria. Yet it's fun to research teams to see where their needs are and if they have anyone who'd fit our needs and what it would take put together a reasonable trade. I know some don't like it but I think it's a nice tool to put together a "in the ballpark" trade suggestion.
  11. Basically I'm against the anti-shift rule. IMO baseball is a challenge between the pitcher, hitter and the defense. There's a constant adjusting to get an edge over the other to survive and thrive. IMO it was ridiculous having Simmons shifting so much against lefties, where often he cut off grounders that Polanco could get yet grounders would get by him and 3B. But this year if we get an inferior SS, things would be very different.
  12. I'll have to say, he has not. I'd rate him as a good glove but far from Golden Glove caliber. But what disappoints me most is his inconsistance at the plate and all those SOs. Sano' is strong, quick and has a good eye which are are great qualities to be a great hitter. This is his moment of truth. At the end of 2021 I liked his more compact swing. That swing will result in less towering HRs but create less SOs and more hits, which many will be HRs because he's so strong. If he can stay with that swing, he'll be well worth his hype if not it's time to cut him off. Both Sano' and Kepler has had a tough time adjusting their swing. A former article on Kepler this off season, I saw his swing and it seemed like when the ball was leaving his bat it was going to the opposite field. It's a moment of truth for both of them but I'm very hopeful.
  13. To answer my own question, he tore his ACL in April, 2017. About 5yrs. ago,
  14. I'm curious, when did he orignally hurt his knees?
  15. It's entertaining to watch Arraez ABs and back in 2019 there was a lot of hype surrounding that. 2020 Rosenthal wisely recommended to switch Polanco to 2nd and trade Arraez. FO under pressure switched Polanco that proved very beneficial but hung unto Arraez at his peak value. His value has been sliding but there's still some hype and there are some teams that need a 2B. I'm not anti Arraez, I'm pro front line pitching. We need front line pitching desperately not a 0 range 2B. I disagree with you Mike that he's more valuable to another FO that needs a 2B which like the hype than us.
  16. People are all different, each handle adversity differently. Many players opt out of 2020 because of covid, many decided to stay but had difficulties some like Maeda it had no effect. Social injustice and unrest in MPLS. as much as some may try not to let it effect them as being in the public, the public won't let you. We often think of MLB players as super heros and that the death of Bell wouldn't effect them. But death of some one close is bound to effect them. I imagine the pressure of every day MLB ballgame is hard enough w/ it's adjusting to pitchers, a dead ball, the shift, injuries and the fans, w/o the added adversity. Nevertheless I'm glad he has risen above it. Wish him well
  17. I think most of argument against the trade is to give the young unproven arms a chance but I think that with young unestablished arms and Bundy, the piggy-back approach will be accepted and I hope a large long releif corp, there'll be plenty of opportunity to see our young pitching prospects. By rotating AAAA system, we can play those w/ a hot hand w/o depending on all of them to produce and putting unduly pressure on them. Thus evaluating them, who's MLB ready.
  18. We still have a very good core of players, it'd be a waste of talent if we punted again this season. The Montas trade that's suggested by Nash Walker is fair and very manageable. Players that are suggested are expendable. Arraez, one dimensional player with 0 upside and falling trade value; Kavaco, player type we have over-abundance of; Duran & Strotman could surprise us but their projections are not that high. Pitching prospects are risky. While Montas is an established pitcher with a lot of upside left. It'd be wise to extend him as soon as possible, I don't think he'd be that expensive and we can afford it. Even with Montas, I'd like an even more veteran pitcher to anchor this rotation. The benifits will well out weigh the cost. Pull the trigger, when the time comes. Of course we still need a SS but that can easily be solved if they don't wait around too long. If they don't go for it again this season, don't ever expect them ever to do it.
  19. It seems like your right.Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Maybe I heard that they might but hadn't .
  20. Some who are not prospects that aren't on the 40 man roster with minor league contracts I imagine will also benifit from the head start. Like Beckman, Robertson, Cotton and Cave, how lucky can you get!
  21. Petty has the stuff to succeed. But what makes or breaks a prospect is how they approach the grind. It seems that Petty embraces it with the right attitude and mindset. Wish him well and expect good things from him.
  22. Last year they punted on 2nd down, when we had a shot at a touchdown by signing Happ and Shoemaker. 2017 they punted by trading away some assets and the team still made it to the playoffs. We still have a competitive core even w/o Berrios and Cruz. I don't really trust PECOTA's projections on little experienced Ryan or Ober yet they're not that bad where if we pick up a couple of of attainable SPs like Montas or Rodon that we could have a pretty respectable rotation. So I implore this FO not to punt again, just because you think that you're good at it.
  23. Totally agree with you. Too much focus is stressed on hitting HRs, resulting in humongous SOs. He'll hit a lot of HRs the way it is. Leave him alone, he has a great swing. Martin is great, he'll give us plenty of depth in CF. After having a drought at CF back up for soooo long, soon we'll have him, Celestino and Lewis that can play there. Now that we'll soon have 2 super utility players together with Miranda and Gordon, it makes total sense to trade Arraez, while we can get something for him. Hopefully soon Martin can come and contribute to this very good core line up.
