  1. If you think Lewis or Martin could be ready by mid-season then do it and move Polanco back to 2nd when they are ready. I don't think the F.O. is ready for Polanco and Arraez at S.S. and 2nd. I just don't see why you want to take a good to very good 2nd baseman and make him an average S.S.? There is nothing wrong with having Polanco at 2nd and him being an All-Star there. It would be great if someone like Palacios could come into camp, take over short, and hit just enough to stay in the bigs.
  2. I think Seth is right. That seems too much for a high average low power hitter with 4 years of team control. If Luis puts up 2 good injury free seasons I might think about giving out that contract.
  3. Might as well! We are going to need a lot of relievers with the starting rotation the way it currently sits.
  4. Yet it's tough to imagine Greinke not being an excellent mentor for young pitchers like Ober and Ryan. I can already see the conversation. Slow down your fastball, stop throwing your slider, save your arm! Strikeouts are overrated, induce weak contact, you'll breeze through 9 innings then! WAIT.....A.....MINUTE. This all seems vaguely familiar. What's Rick Anderson up to? Couldn't we just bring him in much cheaper to teach our youngsters this philosophy?
  5. The kid has a beautiful swing. Hopefully he works out.
  6. I forgot about Odo! We traded a low level S.S. & isn't the S.S. back in our organization again? That should definitely rate on the list.
  7. If that's our timeline, the front office failed. I doubt they'll have until 2025 if the next 2/3 years plays out as you suggest.
  8. If that is the case, we won't have to worry about the Twins winning championships!
  9. We don't need a rebuild! I think that is why most of the slightly more than above average fans are a little salty that the Twins F.O. did nothing before the lockout. There was so MUCH pitching to be had and not many of them went for above what was considered market rate. If we could have only added two starters, not many people would even be uttering rebuild. With the talent we have in the minors, the talent we have on our roster, a couple starters to supplement where we are now could have went a long way. The Twins may not have been the division favorites, but i think that would have pushed us back into contention for it.
  10. We better hope Larnach is ready! Looking at that list, I can see why starters and shortstops were picked over.
  11. I guess the Dodgers had to spend some money. I could have dealt with Taylor at 15 mil seeing as simmons made 11 mil last year.
  12. I agree. We whine when all the top pitching talent gets unreasonable deals. This year it seemed that most deals were fair market rate. Other than Scherzer, I have not thought anyone got more than they deserved. This was the year the Twins needed to step up and make something happen. Even walking away with Rodriguez and Stroman would have been great. Neither were bank braking deals!
  13. How about Chris Taylor? He'd be a good stop gap then transition to utility role.
  14. With the dollar's we should have available, it seemed doable. 1 free agent, 1 through trade, and Pineda kinda sorta solves pitching. I would bring in Chris Taylor to man short until a prospect is ready, then he moves to our utility role. Relief options would be solved through the minors with our prospects. I'm all for developing our talent, but the F.O. made it seem that we were trying to contend this year.
  15. I think I might need help understanding. Bundy could be a good flyer if we had signed a free agent starter, traded for another starter, and wanted depth pitching. As I'm watching all the pitcher's sign, I keep thinking, I would have signed that free agent pitcher and given him 1mil more per year to come to MN. I get the F.O. doesn't want long term pitching contacts. No Ray or Gaussman. So more 3/4 year contacts are signed and I still wonder why not any of those free agent pitchers? But what really got me was seeing Stoman sign a 3 year deal with the Cubs. The Cubs are going no where, and we've been linked to Stroman for a couple years now! What gives?
  16. I was hoping to read that we signed Chris Taylor to play short, Stroman to head the rotation, and traded for Montas. I guess Megill will have to do.
  17. It sounds like there is a lot of rumblings that Canterino could end up as a bullpen arm in the majors anyway. That could end up being a solid trade.
  18. That is too bad. I would have liked Gray at 14mil over 4 years. Gray and Ray plus our pitching prospects could have made a nice rotation.
  19. NOPE. He was great. I love watching Cruz. But, he will decline and we already can't afford pitching, Buxton, a S.S., why spend money that will be wasted on a ready to decline D.H. We can put Sano there and watch him decline for what we already have sunk into him.
  20. It appears the F.O. and Ownership want desperately not to enter a rebuild. I believe that higher spending teams can supplement the lulls in prospects reaching the majors. The Twins don't appear to be one of the teams willing to pay market rates for players (theirs or others). We are always shopping in the bargain bin, have a few prospects flame out, and then we are back to losing. Instead of the F.O. dreading the "rebuild", we may need to embrace it. We don't seem to be one of the teams that can sustain winning when our talent dries up. I'd rather be losing while developing quality prospects, with the hope of winning a world series, than watching Andrelton Simmons play while trying to claw our way to .500. When you can't be the Dodgers, it might be time to go the route of the Astros (tank like you've never tanked before!)....minus the cheating. Well, if the cheating gets us a W.S. win...maybe cheating too.
  21. I'd be all in on a package deal of prospects for Ketel Marte and Zac Gallen.
  22. The first thought that popped into my head was Kirby Puckett in the powder blue uniform!
  23. If we have relegated ourselves to re-signing Simmons, the off-season didn't go as planned. At that point, we should shift to sell mode. Get as close to mlb ready prospects for Buxton, Garver or Jeffers, Sano, Donaldson... We seem to have a good young core that is close to mlb ready. Let's use next year as our year to develop talent, and let's kick butt again in 2023 for many years to come.
  24. I'm going to go with Andrelton Simmons. We won't invest money in a quality shortstop. We won't have any options ready for next year. I would guess the best option the Twins will see would be to resign Simmons. How could he get any worse, he can only get better.
  25. I don't think he needs to be a starter or push anyone. If Gordon can play even little short, second, and outfield, he could pair nicely with Astudillo. Between the 2 of them they'd have the whole diamond covered position wise. Not gold glovers but they could be 2 of the better utility players. It could free up 2 roster spots for who knows what....maybe 15 pitchers instead of 13!
