2019 was a juiced ball year. The organization and many fans to want a swing for the fence approach. Are the coaches going to get fired for doing what they were hired for?

I agree he is not the main reason for the Twins failures so far this year. That falls squarely on Thad and Rocco, as well as the underachieving “core” players. Austudillo is what he is, a slow, poor fielding, average hitter, who you do not want up to bat in the late innings with the game on the line. He is a good story and fun to watch at times, but doesn’t really have a role on any contending team active roster.

Yeah, the sombrero must be really missing Miguel by now.

Another non-quality start from Maeda. Hopefully Happ can give one on Tuesday and Pineda is able to make his start on Wednesday.

Watched Alcala’s effort last night. He hit 99 once, but had trouble throwing strikes. It was not a good outing. I think it is ok to keep running him out at the major league level, but not in important situations.

Was I the only one expecting Rocco to pull Happ after 5 innings?
  7. yeahyabetcha
He has had 1 quality start out of 4 attempts, not good.

Shoemaker and Happ: one quality start out of 5, not good. Simmons: has given what was expected Robles and Colome: I realize it is a minority opinion but, Robles has been good and although Colome has struggled in some outings, I think these two will be ok, as well as the bullpen overall if used properly

2 runs in 4 innings. With great results like that maybe Rocco will let him stretch out to 4 1/3 innings in his next start.
  10. yeahyabetcha
Another 4 inning start. Lack of quality starts and Rocco’s unwillingness to leave a starter in when a starter is having a good outing seems to be the main problem to me. Any team that has a plan to rely on the bullpen for 4 plus innings each game is going to have issues. I think the Twins BP is ok if it is not constantly being over worked.

Overall, the offense and pitching have both been good. It should be fun to watch. Enjoy the season!
  12. yeahyabetcha
Neither. I don’t foresee either signing a long term deal with The Twins
  13. yeahyabetcha
I hope that isn’t the case. That kind of attitude earned Rosario his walking papers....
  14. yeahyabetcha
Cruz struck out and flied out in his last two at bats. Maybe his age is starting to show and he is wearing down in the later innings???
  15. yeahyabetcha
Is Sano at better at 3b than Arraez? I think there may be a couple of good reasons he was moved to first, leave him there.
  16. yeahyabetcha
Cruz at 1B?? Has he ever played there before?
  17. yeahyabetcha
Interesting that after a game was just lost due to horrible defense. A lot of posters advocate for a bad defensive lineup Sano at third and Rooker at first?? Assuming Donaldson has to go on the DL, Arraez should get 3b, platoon Cave and Garlick in LF and call up Lin or Riddle to provide a backup infielder. At least for the short term.
  18. yeahyabetcha
Not convinced the Twins flexibility is a good thing. Garver is a decent catcher and Arraez is probably ok at 2b, but he is marginal at any other position. And Austudillo is not an average fielder at any position
  19. yeahyabetcha
Important year for Jorge. If he provides average to above average defense at 2b and can slash .290/.350/.475 a return to the all star game could be in his future.
  20. yeahyabetcha
I would still rather have Riddle over two middle infielders who lost their starting spots because they couldn’t field the position .
  21. yeahyabetcha
I would rather have Riddle. A potential infield of Arraez, Polanco and Austudillo is not very appetizing . We have had to live thru that before.
  22. yeahyabetcha
I will be very surprised if a backup SS does not make the opening day roster....Maybe Riddle makes the squad over Rooker or Austudillo
  23. yeahyabetcha
Against a righty, 4th or 5th is ok. Against as lefty not as good.
  24. yeahyabetcha
When facing a right handed starter, not sure why Rocco would consider anyone else leading off .
  25. yeahyabetcha
It should be Arraez, but Rocco will likely choose Kepler.....
