  1. Well, I find it to be a very rich and enjoyable site. As said above, they sometimes offer half-price deals. Currently doing in-depth biographical stories on the top 100 baseball players of all time. Lots of good content in various sports, a few clunkers. I follow their writers on the Twins, Gopher basketball and football, baseball in general, Packers, 49s (my fiancée's team).
  2. Just chiming in to say how much I enjoyed the quality writing on this post, Mr. Bonnes!
  3. I gotta love it when two of my loves combine like this: baseball and Dylan.
  4. Hiring Rocco Baldelli was a savvy move by this FO, I would suggest!
  5. Oh my heavens, watching those Pillar highlights .... wow.
  6. I enjoyed the article, but in a way "the next" Arraez will by definition be a surprise, so super difficult to predict.
  7. I enjoyed your article, Renabanena. Welcome to the Twins Daily front page! I like the idea of Bird as a minor league signing in case of need.
  8. I watched several A's games on tv and was very impressed by Chapman. Excellent ability to snag hard-hit balls to his right and his left. Clutch hitting.
  9. I too am thankful for this site and for the amazing 2019 Twins season. I ended up going to six games, including one with my fiancé (the 11-inning loss to the Yankees, ending with Hicks's gravity-defying catch). I sent Thanksgiving with my fiancé's family. We had a traditional feast of turkey, ham, cranberries, mashed and sweet potatoes, and green bean casserole. Lots of treats for the dogs, too, but none homemade! Thank you, everybody!
  10. This is what I need to hear, too: “My best advice it to tell them you love them, regardless of what the next day may bring. And that the Twins should sign at least two starting pitchers so we can all sleep better. Maybe three.”
  11. I think this observation from Matt's OP is quite insightful: "Sometimes we have to remember that player development is not linear and this is a very difficult sport where even just being slightly off in a small facet of your game can be the difference between being a star and being AAA fodder."
  12. So good to see reflections by women on this thread. I played tennis and volleyball into my thirties and a bit in my forties. Some softball, too. Also, as a relative newcomer, it's been fun to see now that there are other women behind some of these cool usernames!
  13. So many perfect lines in this article, TCAnelle! Including these: "Because representation and opportunity matter, dude." "As a female fan of the men’s sport, I’d like to be respected as a fan." "For every player shirt or jersey that’s in the store in a men’s cut, also have the women’s cut available." (I do have a Morneau jersey in a woman's cut.) "And give me more female voices in primary roles on TV and Radio." "Make it crystal clear to every single employee on and off the field that behavior like Osuna’s and Taubman’s is absolutely unacceptable." Consequences, men!
  14. I wonder wether Rocco and the front office will give Garver a meaningfully larger number of starts in 2020. I know that having him start less than 50% of the games this past season has been credited with keeping him fresh (and Castro, too), but why not increase his starts behind the plate closer to 60%? The calculator on my phone says that would mean 97 games. Too many? Might depend on whatever backup is in play. I certainly wouldn't to give La Tortuga 60+ starts at catcher.
  15. I would nuance all these mentions of possibly calling Kirilloff up in September, in light of the reduction in roster size next season (26 through August 31, no more than 28 in September). AK presumably could well be among two late season additions, depending on injuries and the like, but added pitching would be at least as likely, imo.
  16. My fiancée and I are thinking about buying one of the 20-ticket flex options for next season, if we understand the terms properly (any combination of number of seats and games that add up to twenty tickets, can choose seats in advance from available options).
  17. Can't deny the awesomeness of Houston right now, but man, the Dodgers getting to the Series three years in a row and losing all three? It could actually happen, but what a letdown that would be in Tinsel Town.
  18. Thanks, Sconnie! No, I haven't followed the game threads, but I'll give them a look while we're thrashing the Yankees this weekend.
  19. Man, that's a shame insagt1 that the Rochester NY media ignore the MN Twins. At least you get to see a lot of our players coming up and going down.
  20. I like Doc's approach of writing paragraphs instead of bullet points. I was born in Milwaukee about 66 years go. My grandpa was a Cubs fan and took me to a game at Wrigley, though details of that favorite memory are faded. I grew up a fanatic Milwaukee Braves fan until they broke my heart by moving to that 13-state television market formerly known as the Confederate States of America a/k/a the Turner Broadcasting System. Fun true fact: Henry Aaron moved onto my road in a Milwaukee suburb when I was a kid. I went to school with his daughter Gail. His wife Barbara and my mom were good friends, into each other's kitchen all the time. Best memory of that period - wandering into Mr. Aaron's open garage to find him sitting like any other dad in his sleeveless undershirt, except instead of fussing with his tools or fishing equipment he was organizing his bat rack. Moved to the Twin Cities for college, still estranged from the game, so never did venture out to the old Met. Then went to Boston in 1975 for grad school, just in time to watch the Red Sox head to the World Series - Freddy Lynn, Dewey Evans, and Jim Ed Rice in the outfield, Carlton Fisk behind the plate, El Tiante pitching. Made me a Sox fan for the duration of my time in New England. One year, sitting in the centerfield bleachers, I caught a home run ball by Hammerin' Hank himself, playing out his career as a Brewer, if I remember correctly. My last summer there, 1984, I went to Fenway Park 35 times, got to catch the first few games pitched by that kid from Texas, Roger Clemens. Moved back to St. Paul for work that fall, been here ever since. Have been a died-in-the wool Twins fan since 1987. This summer I attended six games at Target Field - a place I really love. Sat through the ten innings on July 23 only to watch Hicks make that impossible catch to save the game for the Hated Yankees. Drawn to this site because of the richness and timeliness of the articles and all the information on our minor leaguers. My other favorite source is The Athletic. I'm happy to be visible here after following the site for the last two years! Edited to add: I played co-ed softball in college, mostly third base. At first they stuck me in right field, but any ball hit past me would score an inside-the-parker with my less than Marwin-esque throwing arm. Favorite current Twin: Kepler.
  21. Finishing 40 games above .500 is quite an accomplishment for our team! Let's hope Luiz recovers quickly and the bats heat up.
  22. Thanks for a whole season of Weekly Reviews - one of my favorite parts of the site. I agree about moving Eddie -- I would drop Rosario to 5th or 6th in the batting order -- not too far down, since he does hit those bombas.
