  1. Larnarch would be a massive improvement for Kansas City's OF... likely RF. So much so that I bet they would trade a reliever for him. With the money saved and insurance money from Lopez the Twins should be able to afford Giolito for the rotation. If not they might as well lower payroll some more....no one is going to their games.
  2. We have good pitching prospects ready to go. If we don't sign someone like Scherzer, Littel or Giolito then we know who the real Tom Pohlad is and we don't have to give him more chances and we might as well go with the young guys. There is no in between in this situation because we need top talent to replace the top talent and if we don't have it then we need to go with youth.
  3. Especially wasted on day 1. Sign Giolito or Scherzer or Litell and let's go! .....
  4. **** Well let's see how serious Tom Pohlads is about competing. Let's go sign Giolito to a 1 year or 2 year deal ...
  5. In the paragraph above he mentions testing pitches and swings and reactions plus the two Lee notes and that's 5 I guess.
  6. I think the Pohlads do the best with what they have. They took losses for COVID. They did spend money on the payroll. The timing of their scale back was upsetting and I do not give them a pass for that. But looking forward. 2026 is a transition team. We could be competitive or we could swap out 3 OFs and a SS from the minors. We could develop another starter who succeeds or trade Ryan and Lopez for top prospects. Our pen could be slightly above average or torn down further with failed starters getting opportunities out of the pen. I'm optimistic for the season and either way it will be fun because of the solid replacement options ready to contribute should we start cycling more players through to the majors.

    Pen Options

I figured with spring training starting and all of the pitcher signings, someone should list all of our potential bullpen candidates going into spring training and lets see how we think the pen will do. One thing I can say is we definitely have options and depth for this season. Which relievers do you see making an impact for the club this year? And who would you take north at this point? Twins Bullpen 2026 Rogers Sands Topa Funderburk Orze Banda Festa Hendricks Top Prospects Preilipp Klein Adams Raya Matt Canterino Cory Lewis Minor League signings for former major leaguers Merryweather Matt Bowman Dan Altavilla Grant Hartwig Eduardo Salazar Starters to the pen options Matthews Bradley Abel Rojas Morris Minor League in the minor’s signings Matt Bash Trent Baker Christian MacLeod Raul Brito In Limbo Jackson Kowar
  9. We added quite a few relievers lately. Does anyone know the pecking order going in to spring training? Anyone going to make a march reliever madness bracket to see who will be the top 8 relievers going north with the Twins on opening day from the 30+ options in camp, and which 1 will go all the way to team closer.......
  10. I'm happy with this move. He will be a solid reliever for us and give us another reliever we can count on.now we can focus on developing our relievers and bringing them up one at a time. We can still sign Kopech or trade Larnarch for a good reliever. But now the need is not so dire.
  11. And the Twins just signed another pitcher to a minor league deal. Merryweather to a minor league deal with spring invite. He pitched for Cubs last three seasons with various results.
  12. Except we were actually saying here that they should try him in the pen first. No one thought he would be as good as he was but everyone liked him and there was belief he could get through a lineup once My thoughts is that he is now plenty of time removed from injuries and this is when he should take steps forward.... He is also 37 this year. I am hoping for a solid season out of him. If the Twins sign someone like Kopech to finish off the off-season. I can live with the moves. And I hope enough of them work out
  13. The Twins have a history of having successful offenses by having average 1-9 hitters who can drive in 60-75 runs each and having a decent bench too. The Twins have this type of offense now. Buxton, Wallner and possibly Lewis. I don't want to count on Lewis but the other two could drive in 90+ This offense should be able to top 200 HRs for the season too.
  14. They self mutilated last trade deadline in the pen. This is supposed to be a rebuilding/ reloading year for next year as we rebuild the pen and work in the starting pitchers at the back of the rotation. We have 3 OF and a SS coming up through the minors at some point this season. We got the best value at the positions we did address. I think Bell could hit 25-30 HRs and have 75-85 RBI which is what he was brought here to do. Arcia was brought in to be the back up IF/ SS. I think his bat is potentially better than IFK. At least the same at a lower cost. Cartini was the best backup C on the market which keeps our offense at C above league average. I'm good with the position player side of things. We are giving players a chance to develop and have the flexibility to swap them out with younger players if need be and we have veteran insurance if we need that too. On the pitching side of things the rotation is good cause we didn't move anyone and the pen still needs another arm possibly two. So the pen gets an I for now or D. They do get credit for bringing back Rogers on a low cost one year deal. He likely could have doubled that if he wanted to. But still the gaping whole that needs some help.
  15. But includes a full season of Keaschal, Bell, Cartini, and a full season of Wallner, Lewis could rebound to a solid player, and we have several hitters in the high minors waiting for a shot. The offense will be fine. We will have a 6-10 ranked offense this season.
  16. Outside of Lee, who sux? Lewis is a maybe. Either he sux again or hits 25+ HRs with .270 ave, Keaschal looks good, Bell is solid offensively. larnarch is a average and every one else looks pretty good
  17. But he is our long time long standing long shot!
  18. It is time to ramp up the annual Matt Canterino is the bullpen wild card. I bet he starts the season in AAA. But it would be great to get a full season from him
  19. For me what matters is the number of options they have at the end of spring training. If the Twins are going to cobble together a bullpen, I would rather they start with large numbers and whittle it down in spring training.
  20. It doesn't matter as much to me going into spring training. If we are going with suspects we want as many decent suspects as possible to figure out which ones are the best suspects to keep in our pen and keep a few in the minors for when one of the suspects bombs and we need to replace with the next best suspects.
  21. I would like to see us get another reliever or two before opening day. The sooner the better too so we can start seeing what we have and make plans for our pen. I am not sure of Banda's stuff but 2 years in a row of success tells me he has figured something out and could continue to be successful. His ERA could be worse by a run and we would still have more stability with him in our pen.
  22. I guess your looking for someone to play 1B long term and I think we already have him in Wallner. Or Gonzalez. Move someone in from the OF. We have 3 strong OF bats and a strong SS bat and a strong SS defender. . I think these guys just need time I like the trade proposals so if you want to make a trade, I'm fine with that
  23. Has anyone seen the Royals OF? We could trade them Larnarch for Schreiber or one of their other relievers and throw in a little cash to balance the trade budget or add a lottery prospect. A trade like that could be win win The Royals for their part have several solid middle relievers. The best part about this for the Pohlads is the budget doesn't change or it goes down a little If the Twins were able to save 2 million in payroll, maybe they could find enough change in the couch cushions to spring for Kopech!.
  24. Injuries hurt the team. Last year was Wallner, Keaschal, Lewis, Ober and Pablo Lopez. We need the IF guys to be healthy as we have less depth there. we also need Lopez to pitch 180 + innings this year and Ober to be able to get over 165 innings with a sub 4 ERA. Getting more offense at C with Cartini and 1B with Bell will help. We need another reliever and then it will come down to getting a reliever or two developed and we then a competitive team.
  25. Thielbar was a minor league signing that pitched in 238 games with 221.33 innings and he had 268 Ks. He went 18-9 and saved 4 games with a 3.66 ERA. Salary for 5 seasons of pitching for the Twins totaled just over 7.5 million. That seems like a top 5 deal to me.
