  1. Seems like missed opportunities for the Twins and their marketing team
  2. The Orza and Jackson moves are fine. A back up C and 7th arm in one has value. Someone who absolutely doesn't belong on the roster .... The Twins have definitely tinkered much better in years past. This is more about finding SS insurance as far as I can see.
  3. Right and having him, Varland and Theilbar had to be pretty valuable from a attendance standpoint is all I'm saying. Local boys will bring in more locals to the games
  4. I wonder how Varland could handle the closer role. Do the Twins have confidence in that? Do the Twins believe in Rojas more? I do think there is a big draw in having Minnesotans on the roster for drawing more fans....I think losing a Minnesotan off the roster vs losing a reliever was the bigger negative of the trade.
  5. Austin Martin has a claim for an OF spot as well
  6. This is what Nick meant when he said Keaschal would lose value if moved to the OF. Gonzalez has similar batting stats with fewer stolen bases but plays OF. This he probably ranks 21 on the list.
  7. These lists are subjective and fun to compile and nitpick. I still have Buxton higher on the list because he will still be valuable when he shifts to a corner OF spot and is likely to resign here at a reasonable price if the Twins are smart enough to keep him as a one team player.. I know you don't count extension potential in these rankings but Buxton will likely stay or want to stay if we are competitive at the end of his contract. Bradley, Abel, Dasan Hill who is probably on the next list and SWR it will be key for the Twins to develop an elite rotation. Ranking these pitchers on potential ina ranking like this is not an exact science. Another fun ranking would be key player metrics for us to compete countdown. Like Buxton starting 110 games in CF and 30 at DH or Bell hitting 30 HRs and Lopez and Ryan throwing 180 innings each...... Keaschal hitting .290+ average with 15 HRs
  8. Marcus Stroman is the comp for SWR. Stroman has 8 seasons of #3 starter stats. From what I understand they both throw similar stuff. I could be wrong, but I see SWR as a longer term Ober before last season and without the injuries.
  9. Lee is not as important as others. We do need Wallner and Lewis to hit 30-40 HRs. Keaschal to hit for average and get on base. Buxton to be healthy Buxton Lee just needs to be a solid role player along with Larnarch and Bell and Jeffers in the 95-110 OPS+ range.
  10. The idea is to make sure Culpepper is prepared to succeed day 1. He has less than half a season of AA. I doubt he is ready yet. Could be but having insurance is better. Arcia is fine as a backup. Lee can go to the minors if not able to handle the starting role.
  11. Lee will start at the beginning of the season with Arcia as utility IF. You don't put Culpepper in as the utility guy. He needs to play everyday. If Lee falters and Culpepper doesn't prove ready then Arcia starts until Culpepper earns his way up. But if Lee falters and Culpepper is ready for the opportunity he will get the call. And Arcia will remain as the back up IF. Does this make sense? Seems obvious to me. The other scenario is if Lewis falters again or gets hurt and Lee slides to third so Culpepper or Arcia plays SS. Arcia is good IF insurance. I'm liking our bench better this time around.
  12. I think he is one of the better utility IF options on the market. There was nothing out there. So I think the Twins did as well as they could in this situation. Now let's go sign Robertson and Couloumbe and call it an off-season.
  13. If three of our top 5 prospects are starting pitchers that bodes well with Ryan and Over and Lopez free agents after 2027. We will only need to sign one.... probably Ober.. 3 SP prospects with 96+ MPH fastballs will likely turn into something good for us
  14. I think this is the starting point. The Twins have 4 top hitting prospects likely to debut next season. Jenkins, Gonzales, Culpepper, and E Rod. Players will get hurt, traded, demoted or released.
  15. Those guys are placeholders for Jenkins, Gonzales, ERod, and Culpepper to name a few.
  16. C Jeffers 1B Bell 2B Keaschal SS Lee 3B Lewis LF Larnarch CF Buxton RF Wallner DH Clemens C Jackson IF Fitzgerald or Krieger or Julien (2 out of 3) OF Martin (Outman or Rhoden could make is so only 1 of 3 above make it to the initial roster) All starters in this lineup could hit 15 + HRs this year. some are 25+ so the lineup has the power needed the question will be if they can get on base enough for those HRs to not be solo shots. The bench is not very deep however. but the minors are so we have reinforcements if there is an injury. I hope they do not wait too long to disable those who get hurt this year as the minors will have better hitters then the bench will.
  17. That was my thought. No actual fan would put Cruz over hometown World Series game 7 hero. Or Pags for that matter since he helped us win the World Series.. why isn't Pags on the list? The injustice! I do think Cruz is one of the Twins best signings though.
  18. Wait another 10+ years to find out. Tiat looks to be the type of player the Twins could sign to an 8/9 year contract when he comes up.
  19. The trade for him did that. I'm not sure resigning him is a top 10. I guess the author isn't counting minor league free agents.
  20. The Twins really like the Young family. He had a brother I think that played in the majors they tried to sign in free agency and the SS prospect we currently have who is related to Delmon as well. Trade trees are fun. And starting with how we got the initial player is important too. That would be cool to see a waiver wire/ rule 5/ or minor league free agent turn into 100 WAR by being the beginning of a long trade tree after supplying years of surplus value.
  21. The good news is we have volume of prospects. More prospects equals more opportunity to hit gold with prospect development. If we have 25 good to great prospects ànd we get 8 regulars whether in rotation, pen, lineup or bench and an all star, that's a good place to start for team development. We probably need to do a little better than that but not much. So let's get more prospects to improve the odds of success.
  22. No we shouldn't be trading starting pitching or starting pitching prospects while we are a transition team. Some will get hurt, others will move to the pen, and the rest, I think our excess pitching will be more valuable once we decide who stays in the rotation and bullpen and who we can trade and what do we need.
