  1. Two other former Twins at 5 and 6 on the list
  2. Teams don't send out promotional life-size cutouts of players they are considering not having around in the near future
  3. The delay make Hughes's record basically official.
  4. The only thing that matters about today's game is Hughes not giving up a walk. Zero walks would give him the ALL TIME best K/BB ratio, for a season. http://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/strikeouts_per_base_on_balls_season.shtml
  5. Delta will get you for a fortune for that Hartford to MSP direct. Lots of options from Atlanta. With all the AA call ups we are going to have next year, this is probably just a cost-cutting move
  6. Nice write up and I feel your pain, but this feels more like a "Twins leave New Britain" article than a "Twins move to Chattanooga" article. Based on the title I was hoping for some in-depth info on Chattanooga, its facilities, and the league.
  7. Here's a little pro tip... At least check into flying to Chattanooga because the airline industry is a little bizarre and sometimes you can actually get much cheaper tickets if you have a connecting flight (ATL to Chatt.) rather than just flying to ATL. One time I needed to get to Memphis for work and it was over $1000. I looked at going into Little Rock instead and it was like $250, with a connection in Memphis. It was the exact same MSP to Memphis flight, I just needed to keep going on to Little Rock and it was $750 cheaper. Crazy. But you should at least look. I've done the same thing (sort of) into Chattanooga. The flight was basically the same price as the Atlanta flight and it included the Chattanooga flight (which is quite short). Also, the Chattanooga airport is a dream. It took me like 5 minutes to drop off my rental car, get through security, and get to my gate. No exaggeration.
  8. You need to subtract Vargas' +0.5 WAR (Bolded), since you added it back in when you accumulated Colabello's, Morales', and Vargas' at bats. In general, very nice job, though.
  9. Worth noting on Rochester is that for their 6 remaining games, they have three two-games series' against the 3 teams above them. Good, in that, they control their own destiny. Bad, in that, they are playing all good teams.
  10. Terry likes to be there in person when each of his pitchers hit their innings limit for the year.
  11. I'm not totally sure if you are serious or not, but I'm willing to discuss this for a second. Why not? If Kennys Vargas has shown us anything, it's that if you are young, even if you have a larger build, you can probably still move pretty well. Sano is smaller than Vargas (not that I would play Vargas in LF). I promise you that if Sano played LF for the next 3 years, he wouldn't be any worse at it than Willingham has for the last 3. After that? Well, that's a while from now and a lot of things could change, but Mauer's contract will be up, so that opens up 1B/DH, and who knows, he might be half way decent at it.
  12. The box score header on ESPN is getting more blue by the second
  13. Plus, even if Price walks, they will get someone's 1st round pick as Qualifying Offer compensation. Part of me wonders if Boston is in total tank mode so that they get into the bottom 10 records and get to keep their 1st rounder when they sign, let's say..... Scherzer. They'd give up their 2nd round pick, but they got Oakland's sandwich pick in the Lester deal.
  14. Gotta be like Scherzer to Seattle in a 3-team or something like that. Detroit doesn't have the minor league bullets to get Price by themselves
  15. Hasn't this been covered? Most likely Milone is only in AAA because a) he was already in AAA for Oakland b.) the SP whom he will be replacing on the 25 man roster is scheduled to start before Milone is available to pitch (since he pitched 2 days ago). Darnell pitches on Friday and Pino pitches on Saturday. Presumably Milone isn't available until Sunday.
  16. Maybe in Rochester Buxton will not get plunked every couple days.
  17. The two most dominant SP of the last decade, in Minnesota, have done it.
  18. Dave Stewart also: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/stewada01.shtml
  19. That's the one that comes to mind for many of us, but here's another one. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/schilcu01.shtml (he had exactly 5 before he turned 25)
  20. Given the reluctance to sign at compensation-required free agent over the past few years because of losing a 2nd round pick, the Twins FO, must be throwing a freaking party
  21. Don't forget... Houston gets pick 1b
  22. CR could certainly use a little influx of offense, but I wonder if the Twins like having him bat right after Gordon at E-town
  23. At some point the Twins just have to throw their hands in the air and say "OK, Max, here's your ticket to Cedar Rapids" Right? About 30 games in and his average is hanging around 400. OBP a bit north of 500. OPS around 1.300. Leads the league in BA, OBP, SLG, OPS, Runs, BB, HR, and is 2nd in RBI
