  1. The Rangers seem to be purposely getting to 2 outs the same way Mauer likes to hit with 2 strikes. Well played Ron Washington
  2. We've turned it into a 2-out at-batting problem
  3. Well, at least we avoided our recent problem with 2 out hitting
  4. 6 of the last 7 games we haven't scored enough runs to get this game to extras.
  5. Does anyone else play the "guess the next pitch location" game, with their mouse cursor on MLB.com Gameday?
  6. I think it was last night, but it could have been two nights ago.... Joe hit a laser to the gap in left-center, right at the center fielder. The OF shift is killing him.
  7. Plus, then who would run Mauer Chev?
  8. http://www.fangraphs.com/spraycharts.aspx?playerid=1857&position=C&type=battedball Looks to me like Mauer would have at most 11 more hits off the green monster, and more likely 7 more hits. Unfortunately we can't look at those 7 hits in a vacuum. He'd also have fewer line drive hits to LF because the left fielder would be playing in further.
  9. But according to Jayson Stark, Mauer is one of the most "shift-proof" players. Which is, of course, ridiculous. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/10992556/mlb-five-most-shift-proof-hitters I guess Stark is only looking at the infield, because I'd argue that Joe has been hurt by outfield shifts more than any player I've seen.
  10. No. And if you didn't want to "burn through" your bench, you could even pinch hit with your best hitting pitchers. There's no law against Phil Hughes pinch hitting.
  11. It's unclear whether he is grading the actual production from the position or if he is grading the handling of that position. Either way, not giving an "A" to 2B, (which I believe 100% of the innings played by the Twins this year has been Brian Dozier), is completely asinine.
  12. The have far too much loyalty for that. I'd prefer Kubel come down with some sort of "shoulder strain" Although, as someone pointed out yesterday, I think, he's due some sort of $150k roster bonus soon.
  13. The off handed comment during last nights broadcast says everything we need to know. I don't know if it was Bert or Dick, but they said something like "well I bet that's the last time Suzuki convinces Gardy to let him play against Saunders" Immediate facepalm.. 1. Suzuki was something like 1/11 coming into the game against him 2. His players shouldn't be dictating thing like this to Gardy 3. This part really got me - "against Saunders" - Like, of course, he's going to be able to do it with other pitchers Suzuki has historically struggled against, but that is the LAST TIME.... for Saunders, who we will likely never face again anyway.
  14. None of the other major / mid-major radio stations suffer from said building blockage.
  15. Change Fuld and Parmelee to Hicks and Rosario and I'm on board.
  16. I was able to watch the game. I was excited and frankly a little surprised that my daughter wanted to listen to the game in bed. I wanted to foster that new-found interest. KTWN's "college radio station" signal strength prevented that from happening. That is frustrating.
  17. I did a little digging after that post and found this pretty cool image http://thumbnails.visually.netdna-cdn.com/baseballs-many-physical-dimensions_53344ca673751.png It compares all 30 MLB Ballpark footprints
  18. That's probably a HR in 28 of the 30 MLB ballparks (AT&T Park maybe being the other).
  19. My 6yo daughter, tonight, who went with me to the game yesterday, asked me if she could listen to the game while she went to sleep. I couldn't have been happier.... Until I had to disappoint her by telling her that I couldn't get the game on her radio. I live 4 miles south of Target Field. 4 miles. And I can't get the game on a relatively new desktop radio with a decent sized antenna and digital tuning. I can get just about any other FM station in the area. Not KTWN. This is a problem, Minnesota Twins. I get it. Not many people listen to the game on the radio any more. There probably isn't exactly a bidding war to broadcast Twins baseball games in the metro. But then you need to change with the times. She's got an iPod touch that she be perfectly happy listening to the game on.
  20. I suppose that's why they sent Florimon down to AAA before he got automatically called out every time he came to the plate, for making a travesty of the game
  21. Per MLB Rules: I suppose you could argue the ump's call was correct Edited to add this gem
  22. I suppose the ump was saying, "if you're standing the baseline, he can go around you"
  23. Suzuki grabbing a lot of cups... Just sayin'
