  1. This is a great summary - thanks for continually providing more interesting information. With the Twins struggling the prospects provide a nice diversion.
  2. The offense is sure in a bad way - when Mike Leake is doing this. I am encouraged - Buxton has not struck out yet today. Hope when it comes back it comes back big.
  3. That was a nice At bat Dozier working the walk - c'mon 3-run rally.
  4. Yes, Chris Carter's average is looking pretty good in comparison and he can be counted on to knock one out of the park from time to time.
  5. The comments on the game thread today are like our Offense - few and far-between. Been in meetings so just joining - hopefully we get some runs here at the end of the game.
  6. Very interesting and informative - thanks for posting this! Glad I ran before I read this today - now I am going straight to the couch and propping my knees up.
  7. In hindsight - should have re-upped with Bartolo Colon instead of signing Lynn.
  8. A bad hamstring tear can take a couple of weeks to recover from - I just wish we had some better news on that as the lineup could use him. Escobar and Rosario's hot streaks look like they are ending. How about Molitor's comment "I don't know how you would judge the level of effort he's giving on some of the running he's doing, but to me, it's not very close to 100 percent." Not sure what he meant but it sounds like he isn't running very fast out there.
  9. I had his baseball card when he was the Twins manager - one of the few last names that started with a Q. I didn't realize he was so young when he managed. Associated with the Twins for most of his career in a variety of roles - sounds like a wonderful life.
  10. All's well that ends well. 2 games back now
  11. First step, take Grossman out and put LaMarre in
  12. If anyone believes in curses is it time to mention that Shields is pitching a no-hitter. That's right a no-hitter.
  13. As I too feel slightly down on Sano maybe from too high expectations - I thought well let's compare his current 162 game average to the 162 game average for another noted Twin who was also known for being a little portly - Harmon Killebrew. Yes, he played in a different era but I thought the comparison would be interesting. They are pretty close in some areas except but notably different in plate discipline BA/OBP/SLG/OPS HR/RBI/BB/SO Career oWar/dWar Miguel Sano .252/.344/.493/.837 37/103/83/248 7.5/-3.0 Harmon Killebrew .256/.376/.509/.884 38/105/104/113 71.5/-18.7 Looking at games played Harmon also stayed healthier - playing in significantly more games played each season. Sano has not played in over 116 games in any season yet and Harmon had 2 seasons in his first full 14 years where he played less than 116 games - 113 and 100. What do I take from all this? I would like to see Sano have a little better plate discipline and stay healthier i.e. play more games. If that requires getting in better shape than so be it. Despite the significantly higher strikeouts which bother me too much - his average and slugging numbers are pretty close. I feel a little bit better about Sano - nice to have that kind of power threat in the lineup. PS - I would also like to see Buxton healthier and has Buxton has no weight issues - he greatly improves our defense by not only his play but also not subjecting us to Grossman in the outfield.
  14. 1: It serves a purpose - like if you want to have 12 beers in a sitting. I haven't had light beer in about 10 years and don't miss it 2: No point - similar to non-alcoholic beer 3: Give me the real thing - butter 4: I will have ketchup on a store-bought dog on sometimes I prefer mustard - never on a ballpark dog 5: I'll go along with everyone else on SpaceX Back to baseball - I begin every game with optimism and have ended most of them depressed. Pitching and defense guys pitching and defense. At least Grossman is not in the field today...and neither is Petit - he can't be making an error a game even if his hitting has been a bonus.
  15. Alright Grossman - that's the way to do it!
  16. Station to Station again. I'll admit I am not watching the game so it may have been an easy out at home. But unfortunately Grossman is coming up.
  17. Great to see Romero out for the 6th inning!
  18. I was just wondering if we have the lowest percentage in the league of scoring from 2nd base on a single. We do it the old-fashioned way one base at a time.
  19. Sano and Buxton sure have a troubling history of injuries and this is when they are young - what is going to happen when they get older. Combined with winning 1 of 11 this is putting a dark cloud on this season and future ones. Hopefully something good happens soon and we don't have a repeat of 2016 when just when you thought it couldn't get worse it did.
  20. Today is going to be different! We will lose to the Yankees in the daylight instead of nighttime.
  21. ....and playing the part of a lousy free agent signing is Mr. Morrison
  22. Ever the optimist I always think that this next series will be different against the Yankees - yet the same result keeps happening. At least I won't be able to watch the rest of the series.
