  1. I expect we will get cash instead of a PTBNL - maybe lunch money.
  2. Certainly wasn't expecting a trade involving Bobby Wilson and trading him for almost the same catcher type in Gimenez. I guess since Darvish is done for the year Chicago didn't need his personal catcher anymore. We can try him out in the closer role.
  3. Same Odorizzi pattern and then Boozenuts didn't help by throwing some gasoline on the fire.
  4. Must be a team mandate - we have to get at least one runner thrown out on the basepaths every game.
  5. Got a chuckle out of the mlb game note: Defensive substitution: Robbie Grossman replaces left fielder Eddie Rosario batting 3rd and playing left field. As if Robbie would be put in for defensive purposes for anyone. Hope Eddie is OK.
  6. Nice bullpen effort tonight!
  7. Good to see nice pitching by May and Rogers
  8. Going back to the intro question - since you don’t her well yet you can get your teacher a gift card. Maybe to a local restaurant or Starbucks.
  9. Dozier up for the Dodgers - saw hit hit a home run earlier which was nice. Just grounded into a double-play. So he is his usual self.
  10. I am not sure how Cleveland scored on a line out force from the pitcher to the shortstop but it’s us vs Cleveland so it figures. I am watching Oakland vs Houston exciting game between 2 good teams.
  11. As stated above - many things we are not privelaged to seeing to know exactly how he is doing - I have to go by things I do see. His term has been defined by team performance highs and lows (good years in 2015, 2017 horrible in 2016 - disappointing 2018 - I would think a top manager can help smooth the lows, could use improvement on bullpen usage - more even use of relievers - not overuse and in some cases non-use, disappointing development of Sano and Buxton - not sure how much of that is on him - but they are our cornerstone players, so many outs on the basepaths this year, rumors of a poor clubhouse environment this year at least. On the positive side, he took the team to the playoffs last year. This year he has managed through a lot of roster turnover and we have not sunk like the Titanic. Considering all that I would give him a C-
  12. My biggest take away was Grossman was going on a rehab assignment. I have not missed him at all the in the big league lineup.
  13. Agree that the punishment in this case needed to be longer to set a tone that this is not tolerable. We have made things safer on slides at Home Plate and 2nd base why not in this case as well. The hard part in some cases is determining what is intentional or not. In this case it would seem to be one of the more obvious ones - guys hits consecutive leadoff home runs and he gets drilled on the first pitch. For celebrating a home run with a bat flip - I am not sure a ball in the ribs is justified retribution. Maybe a strikeout next at-bat with some double fist pumps would be better than putting a runner on base. At some point a batter will take a bat out to settle the score.
  14. Agree with your comments. I know they were somewhat forced when Oakland claimed him so it was either trade him for something or keep him the rest of the year. Moving him would make sense if we had a young closer on the roster we wanted to trial - or if we promoted one of our Rochester guys to take his place but that does not appear to be the case. Actually given the options I like Nick's option of using Tyler Duffey in the spot since he has swing and miss stuff and has closed before in College. Nick Anderson might be another option to trial.
  15. Hildenberger has been watching Rodney all year and thought that is how you save games. Good job righting the ship and getting the save after the bad start. They sure have been hitting him hard lately, might be good to rotate someone else in next time.
  16. I'll summarize my thoughts on the FRE era. I was puzzled why we signed him in the first place along with some of our other Rule 5 bullpen moves - despite all the anxious moments he performed better than I thought he would so I would have to say I was a bit pleasantly surprised by his performance as a Twin. Figured he would be traded but thought we might get back a little more than we did - the front office must have decided they didn't want him around. Be real interesting what our bullpen looks like next year - hope these guys have a plan other than waiver wires and Rule 5 picks. Winning is the best entertainment but I will say FRE sure brought excitement to the 9th inning by how much trouble could he get into before either pulling it out of the fire or losing it - and since we are not playing for anything anymore I am slightly going to miss that.
  17. Every time I step away some team scores 3 runs. Way to go Polanco!
  18. Great review on these guys - thanks for posting. I am now interested in what led them to improve and can that be replicated with some of our other prospects - were they helped along with coaches that believed in them - was it self driven improvement - or maybe a natural maturing that comes with age. Guillen certainly believed in Escobar but his improvement came after coming over to the Twins. In any case credit to these guys for turning around their career - they can certainly be proud of their success.
  19. In the words of Seinfeld - hate the Drake! Just kidding - I’ll cross my fingers and hope he does great here. I guess part of the frustration with the bullpen is we have been through cycles of drafting for the bullpen and then we had high velocity types like Reed, Burdi and Chargois and others I am forgetting and they have not materialized at the major league level. We are either poor at developing relievers or have extremely bad luck.
  20. We get the FRE post midnight edition. A mellower version 1,2,3 easy
  21. Well, we have seen a lot of that this year.
  22. Great bunt there by Polanco - LOMO is the tying run!
