  1. Hopefully we show up in one of these Yankee games - these butt-whippings sure take the fun out of baseball.
  2. Seems like every game starts the same - slowly for us
  3. Twins Motto this year - "Let's spot 'em a few"
  4. Dozier, save the grounders for when no one is on base and the HR's for when they are on base please.
  5. I believe I read in the very excellent series preview on this site that the Pirates bullpen was weak outside of their very good closer. Good insight I am glad to see us take advantage of!
  6. On a positive note if there is one, there are plenty of innings left to mount a comeback.
  7. Hopefully the words of the Rolling Stones apply to this situation .... "You can't always get what you want But if you try sometime you find You get what you need"
  8. I was watching the SF-LA broadcast and they mentioned the Dodgers had moved him to throw from the first base side of the rubber I believe they said to help disguise his pitches better. Good to see him healthy and pitching. Wishing him well!
  9. Attaching a link where Joe Posnaski addresses the origin of the Indians name http://sportsworld.nbcsports.com/cleveland-indians-nickname-sockalexis/ It is more than past time that the Chief Wahoo logo went away like maybe by 60 years. As for the Indians name - I am not Indian, but I don't have a negative connotation with the name Indians, however I'll bring forward this example. When my daughters were in Elementary school we joined the YMCA Indian Princess program - where we were assigned tribes and learned about the culture of that tribe - for us the Comanches. Everyone treated that respectfully for the most part - but I know they have changed the YMCA program now away from Indian tribes out of respect from complaints brought forward from Native Americans that their culture was being misrepresented. Maybe since Cleveland is home to the Rock and Roll HoF - they can change their name to the Cleveland Rockers - We will, We will Rock you!
  10. Thanks for your efforts in making Twins Daily a great site!
  11. I would like to see games average around the 3 hour mark - last nights game was so good to watch that I did not mind the extra time too much although I find myself fitting other stuff in between the breaks. Amazed by the number of strikeouts in last nights game. One thing that has increased recently is multiple visits to the mound by the pitcher and catcher. They need to limit all visits to the mound to two per inning - catcher goes out there the 2nd time - have to replace the pitcher. Another rule just for Yankee games and their batters - start the count at 1-1 they get 3 balls and 2 strikes. I am half-joking on these but maybe that is a solution to quicken the game overall and might help the starters last longer if we just moved to 3 balls and 2 strikes. But then that would make the lyrics to Take me out to the Ballgame obsolete.
  12. I think there was plenty of first base to touch and he was not even close to touching it. It seemed like he just ran his normal stride - it wasn't like he hopped over the pitchers foot to miss the bag. But that is from my memory of last night - haven't watched the play again.
  13. One thing I will add on the Gregorius pitch was that Castro was set up mid-to high outside and the pitch came in low and to the inside. So Castro had to move his glove down and to the right. Definitely was a strike according to their strike box but from the Umps live viewpoint you can see why it looked low. If Castro's glove was set where it was pitched it probably would have been a strike. This can be used as an argument to automate the strike zone to remove that human misperception. It also shows how off Santana's control was as he was missing Castro's targets in the first inning.
  14. Well it was a really good season! Somewhat bitter but expected ending with the usual performance against the Yankees.
  15. Who called the meaningless 2 out hit? 3 more and a HR!
  16. That was ball 4 as well but Dozier decided to swing at a pitch he couldn't reach. I guess it is coming up there at 100
  17. Let's put up a 5 spot - got them right where we want them - overconfident.
  18. Obnoxious Yankee fan makes great catch on foul ball and then hikes pants up. priceless
  19. On the bright side - all of our pitchers are getting postseason experience. Boys this is how you get battered in New York if you make the playoffs.
  20. I don't remember seeing anyone miss 1st base in little league.
  21. We will always have the top of the first - then the wheels fell off
