  1. Yeah, we have way too many bat-only players (Julien, Miranda, Larnach, now Buxton I guess). Even Lewis has struggled at 3B.
  2. Yes. Verdgo is a .300 hitter in a league with very few of those.
  3. Not much good news, but I appreciate the well-written Week In Review every week, Nick! Players on other teams (such as the Mets) have recently complained that hitting coaches (working closely with an analytical FO) have overwhelmed batters with information, to the point that they suffer paralysis by analysis. This is all I can come up with regarding why so many Twins have higher than usual K rates this season, with so many called third strikes in key situations.
  4. Yes, this lineup has some length to it. Vest pitched an inning last night for Detroit. They must be going with a bullpen game.
  5. It's not clear what position will be Lewis' best going forward, Julien's is already DH.
  6. He looks like he will not get many walks.
  7. I agree completely with the second paragraph. So there's not much point in calling to get rid of Rocco but keeping the FO.
  8. This game is going to be over in two hours. We've got that going for us ...
  9. They picked up Eflin as a free agent after seven seasons with the Phillies and, based on his 2023 stats, made him about 20% better,
  10. FWIW on the FS1 broadcast of the Twins-Guardians game last week, AJ Pierzynski discussed the Kepler situation and said that the FO has been reluctant to trade/DFA him for a while because he is one of the clubhouse leaders.
  11. Pitchers get two "disengagements" per batter: "Pitchers may only disengage from the pitching rubber — either to call timeout or to attempt a pickoff throw — twice per plate appearance."
  12. If you click on a blue or red box you should be shown the player's batting average for pitches in that box.
  13. Hack Wilson info: "After leading the NL with 159 RBI in 1929 while powering the Cubs to the NL pennant, Wilson had one of the greatest seasons in big league history in 1930. He launched 56 long balls, a National League record that stood for 68 years, and totaled 191 RBI – still the all-time major league single-season record – with a .356 batting average. In his season of highlights, he also had a .723 slugging percentage, walked 105 times and compiled 423 total bases."
  14. I looks like Cleveland has developed another good starter. 🙄
