  1. Below is a really good article about how the Brewers have achieved their success. One line that stood out to me is this: "The top five teams in MLB at hitting the ball in the air to the pull side did not win a playoff game this year: the Cubs, Twins, Astros, Diamondbacks and Rockies." Some of the analytics that worked briefly in 2019 are already outdated. https://www.si.com/mlb/2026-world-series-brewers-turning-back-the-clock-moving-baseball-forward
  2. Yes, I just want to echo this statement. The information in the recaps is great, and the writing itself (as someone who wrote for a living myself can say) is a level above your typical fan blog.
  3. All three would qualify as wildcards, although the one with the best record will get home games in the WC round.
  4. Good article about how Skenes changed his mechanics: https://www.si.com/mlb/the-paul-skenes-dilemma-continued
  5. I agree, the site managers could use more discretion in terms of which articles get published. (We didn't need thirty-nine "Walner Strikes Out Too Much" articles.) Also, I'm probably the only person bothered by this, but it's sloppy not to have photo captions -- this is Journalism 101.
  6. Very interesting article! However, I can't get behind the idea that "defense doesn't matter" at first base. Just ask Ron Washington. 😉
  7. I think left field might be his best option. He doesn't have the arm for RF or CF.
  8. Really interesting article/obit about Jackson: https://www.thedowneypatriot.com/articles/darrell-jackson-former-mlb-pitcher-who-devoted-his-life-to-helping-youth-dies-at-70
  9. Overall Shelton has done a decent job but he still makes some questionable lineup/position decisions. This is a key game and we've got Buxton and Jeffers sitting and at least two guys playing out of position.

  11. It was a dribbler (swinging bunt) that Lewis couldn't bare-hand. Only play was probably at home.
  12. Also, I thought MLB might front load most of the inter-league series to April and May (in case games are lost early on). The Twins do have a total of 8 series against NL teams in March/April/May, but they also have 4 in September. March/April - 5 May - 3 June - 1 July - 2 August - 1 September - 4
  13. No decision for Ryan. With a WHIP of 1.04 (!) he's only 6-5 while pitching for the highest scoring team in the AL. Go figure.
  14. Good point by Plouffe that there was no reason for Lee to be playing in when Roccio hit the double with two outs.
  15. Awesome start from Joe. Hopefully the bullpen can cover six outs.
  16. Yankees swinging out of their shoes. aiming for the short porch.
  17. Watch the replay again. Buck has to make sure that ball isn't caught. But yeah, he probably should have been sent home.
  18. According to baseballref.com: "Suspended Games: If a game is called in the middle of an inning after becoming an official game, and the visiting team has taken the lead (or the game is tied), it is a suspended game. It will be resumed at a later date from the exact point of stoppage."
