  1. If Buxton stays healthy, I think it will be hard to bat him above the 6th spot due to his power. It doesn't seem like Baldelli wants to use his speed on the bases like we are projecting above(bunting, stealing bases, etc., don't seem to be priorities.) No one scores from 2nd on a hit more often than Buxton......but he can do that from the 5th-6th spot in the order. Batting 8th or 9th seemed to be a confidence/pressure issue for Buxton in the past for Baldelli. Hopefully, that is a thing of the past.
  2. I have to agree with Old Nurse about the bats.....I don't feel good about Blankenhorn being on any of our "best lists" as well. Larnach and Kiriloff make me forget all of that though!
  3. His career numbers are that of a solid #4 pitcher on a good team. This article obviously hopes he far surpasses this at age 32. Drew nailed it......."As usual in March hope springs eternal" LOL
  4. Again, let's slow it down on Celestino.....he is at least 2 years away from being in the conversation.....
  5. It is outside.....I wouldn't think there will be many mask wearers.
  6. I dont see why they didnt non tender Buxton, DFA Cave, and trade Kepler to the White Sox. With the smokin hot outfield we have in Larnach, Kiroff, Rooker, and Celestino we would march straight to the Championship for sure. Not to mention the 5 more million we could save the Pohlads. The team that Derek built is finally taking shape. Let's slow it down a little on Celestino. Right now his minor league numbers don't translate to a major league player.....
  7. I'm am not seeing Pineda as one of the best #3 starters. If you think there is anything to "projections," then Plesac and even Cease(if he can throw strikes) will be a better #3 starter this year and certainly into the future. I think we will be relying on Happ, Shoemaker, and Dobnak more than you think..... and that will not result in a 1st place finish.
  8. Unfortunately, Gordon is probably at best a utility guy who can fill in at at a few different positions. I don't think his bat will ever translate to the majors. I am worried that this is also the case for Lewis......and his injury certainly will not help.
  9. When do we find out if he cleared waivers?
  10. Not sure how bold that prediction is about Arraez in the line up 80-85% of the time. Marwin G was probably close to those numbers even though he was no where near the hitter we/Baldelli hoped he would be. Arraez as a regular is LF sounds like a recipe for disaster as far as keeping him healthy is concerned. Agree though.......he needs to be in the line a high % of the time!
  11. I would rate Kiriloff's bat above Larnach's and their gloves as probably similar so I would Kiriloff ahead of him. I would also drop Lewis even further down the list. At best a slightly below average defense at shortstop and he still hasn't proven he can be a solid hitter in the minors which doesn't project very well to the majors. Right now I would think he projects as a utilty guy who can play multiple positions and will hit .240......that isn't a top 10 prospect......
  12. "What was he 257/267 and 195/203?" He was commenting on Eddie's plate discipline (K/BB ratio.) If we are to believe his #'s(I guess I do,) then Eddie did NOT improve from 2019 to 2020. Eddie must be close to 30 yrs old........he 'is what he is' and won't be magically changing things the last 2-3 years he has left in the league.
  13. I don't know that Travis will ever project to much more than a .230 hitter with 10-15 HR potential in the big leagues. But that is all we can reasonable expect from Marwin anyhow. Not sure how the gloves compare but I would suspect Marwin is overall better. I like the idea of going with Polanco and Arraez splitting 2nd and splitting "super" utility role. Bring up Travis if someone gets injured.
  14. Rosenthal walks to many guys.....don't need the ulcer
  15. JLease.......SPECIFICALLY, what hatred and violence are you talking about? "I'm out on Schilling, a great pitcher who I have no interest in giving a Hall of Fame platform to spew vitriol and hatred. It's because he's taken things far beyond anyone else, using his position and platform to spur hatred and violence."
  16. What were Schillings "off the field behavior" issues?
  17. Sign me up......hate to see Smeltzer go. LOL
  18. Polanco and Arraez are much more of a lock than Garver. If Garver picks up where he left off hitting under .200 and striking out every 3 at bats, then there will be a decision that needs to be made on him. I don't think that will happen.....just talking about who is a lock.....
  19. For sure his glove is NOT much better. I would say their gloves are comparable.
  20. Idiotic but typical would be my response. There is a Harvard (hardly a conservative bastion) study out showing that blacks are shot LESS by police when you factor out the geographics, etc. (ex: the study considers the fact that more hispanics get shot in hispanic neigborhoods.) This study does not support the "narrative" that cops are out to get black guys.... so you won't hear it on CNN. Now there certainly can be and IS racism exhibited by small populations of ALL races, but what has happened over the last week is directly related to the way the media covers these events. CNN is making huge profits over this event.....which is the reason they continue to fuel the fire. mlhouse nailed it: "The true fact is, the racial element in these matters are way overblown.Police often overreact to the situation and they should be held accountable. The violence and crime in these areas are beyond your comprehension. It is mostly black on black, minority on minority crimes. This overreaction will hurt these areas and they may never recover just like Detroit, LA, Newark and other cities that have had such levels of riot."
