  1. WOW Mlhouse.....some great stats that really tell a different story! TY! ************** But then the Dodgers moved to Dodger Stadium. If you look at the home-road splits of Koufax's career you can see what "improved". 1960 Home ERA 5.27 Road ERA 3.00 1961 Home ERA 4.22 Road ERA 2.77 1962 Home ERA 1.75 Road ERA3.53 1963 Home ERA 1.38 Road ERA 2.31 1964 Home ERA 0.85 Road ERA2.93 1965 Home ERA 1.38 Road ERA2.72
  2. A whole lot of dumb going on here. Probably shouldn't comment now......so we can limit the comments to just 1 (asbury's correction)
  3. Hard pass. Almora is 50/50 to even make the Cub's opening day roster as a 5th outfielder. The Cubs would jump at the chance to add almost all of the names listed in the article......but the Twins are not interested.
  4. I would have a hard time seeing Gordon make the opening day roster unless there are significant injuries. I think he has fallen down the prospect list now and might be a future utility type player at best. His defense will never be Adrianza level and he won't be called up because of his bat.
  5. Or perhaps they felt Maeda was a better fit this year .....if they are going to try to make a run at the World Series.
  6. Thorp really hasn't proven himself at AAA yet. Lets give him some time. I would think he will start and probably stay in AAA for most of the season unless injuries hit very early. Pineda coming back and Hill several months later, I don't see Thorp having much of an opportunity in 2020.
  7. Not sure about all the love for May. 3.0 ERA last year is solid (at best) for a guy who only throws 50-60 innings. He still walks too many guys in his short stints. And....last year was by far his best year.......so I guess we are hopefully he can build on that.
  8. Boy, hard to say the Twins 'nailed it' as far a pitching development is concerned. Other than Berrios, our entire projected starting pitchers in 2020 are coming from other team's systems. We again have the "hope" of our upcoming prospects doing well. I am optomistic as well......but on February, 13th of EVERY year......I am optomistic!
  9. I agree with Specialist.......V1 is an "even up" trade. V2 Lets call Raley for the catcher a "wash." Then the only change from V1 to V2 was that we ALSO gave up a top draft pick. I am warming up to having Maeda......but.....lets be serious.....the even up trade was MUCH better if you are a Twins Daily follower. Of course, 10M in Pohlad's pocket makes V2 a better trade for.....Pohlad.
  10. At first glance....I hated this trade. I am slowly warming up to him. I think he can be a #2 starter (for the Twins)
  11. Not sure how happy he will be getting pulled after the 5th inning of most starts. This seems to be the trend. Probably a valid trend the way the bullpen is shaping up!
  12. Wade might be a solid defensive outfielder.....but I don't see him ever being more than a "4th outfielder."
  13. What is the pressure to sign Cruz to an extension prior to.....July? Let's see how things go for him and then decide. Similar to when the Twins originally signed Cruz, other teams will again think he is too old and not offer much (deservedly so?)
  14. I have been listening for over a year and enjoyed your views and ideas! Time to find another partner!
  15. 2: Graterol wasn't going to be a factor for the Twins as a starter this year. Even if he avoids injuries entirely, there was no scenario in which he was going to handle a starter's workload all season long, and still be available for October. I reject this premise(above.) Graterol probably threw 200 innings when he was 15 years old. "Building him up" to be a starter for a couple of years doesn't fit with biology which probably says that he is now at (or close) to his physical peak. Building up Odorizzi's arm in spring training to be a starter could easily be done for Graterol as well. Now if the staff didn't think he could be a quality starter (like Homer Bailey,) then that is an arguement I am comfortable with leaving up to Wes Johnson.
  16. Ha.....I have to agree with this comment. I was probably closer to assuming he wasn't on the top 20 list at all compared to him being #1.
  17. Seemed like Sano had made the effort to come in lighter last year but then gained weight while he was sidelined.......so he knows what/how to get fit. Not sure if anyone has seen a photo of him in the past 3 months, but I will be curious to see what he looks like when he shows up for spring traning!
  18. Jon Gray is very similar to Gibson......and we gave up on Gibson. Arenado is a stud but is it possible he hit a lot of those home runs because of where he played? Rockies would do that deal in a heartbeat and the Twin would take a big PASS.
  19. Front office would look like geniuses for 3 out of the 4 years!!
