The Twins Finally Picked a Lane
saviking replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree. We slidbthr window back unless new ownership spends big next year. At least they have 22 million to work with from the Correa trade. I wish someone woukd dobabrankung if our NEW too 40 minor league players. Only waybI can evaluate what we got for all the players we imunloaded. The Vsrland trade made no sense.- 301 replies

Pretty much agree. The most I would do is trade Jax, but only if you got a big package. My hunch is Duran is the only one who could get a huge package.

Same here. I've been bashing the Correa signing ever sense I got to see him play in a Twins uniform for the first 3 months. I was relieved when he was going to sign with the Mets before becoming disappointed again when we resigned him long term. That first three months in a Twins uniform was enough to know that although he was a very good player he in no way was worth that percentage of the Twins salary cap.

Management because they put 25 percent of the teams salary cap into one player. That's like playing Russian Roulette. You miss and it haunts you until you can either unload the player or their contract runs out ..

Why get rid of key pieces with team control? Just unload any deadwood or players whose contracts are up and you aren't going to renew for whatever you can get for them. Then wait for the new owners to make their move

I still cant believe people defend paying an aging star 36 million a year. Esoecially in a team strapped for cash. I woukd give him away for nothing if someone would take him and his salary. But you wouldn't find any takers and that's the issue.

To move Correa ... would have to include cash relief or we give them significant projects. Nothing .. says we screwed up signing Correa than this. How many more years isnhe signed for?

Year, after year, after year. Injures derail the Twins. Can't we just enjoy one season without too many players going down? It really is exhausting.

I NEVER liked shelling out 36 mill a year to one player on a small market team. I agree with everything you said but the only way we could really rebuild is to unload Correa and his salary. We did after his first year and then got sucked right back in. But nobody is going to take an aging (often i lnjured) star off our hands and pay his salary so we're stuck with him. Can you imagine what we could do with that 36 million if we could. I mean, I'd just give him to someone if they woukd take him and his salary. Okay, hit me with the hate responses like always happens when I posted this opinion over the last 3 years. I'm hardened. I can handle it.
