I have no beef with any of what you have said, but he has played in exactly 11 games. And, I also don't care if he becomes Joey Gallo, BUT note that Joey Gallo takes walks--a ton of them. I don't think anyone thinks that Joey Gallo is going to be a batting champion, but he is going to drive in about 100 runs. My contention is that we let the dust settle before we say that Sano is now the most productive player on planet earth. Nobody wants the Sano that we had last year, including me, but I am taking the long road. Let's see how he is playing by the all star break before we crown him an all star. -

That means you must be a Chunichi Dragon fan like me. (My wife is from Nagoya!) Of course, since I am in Gunma, there are many Yomiuri fans. I watch as many of their games as I can--always hoping they lose. I've been here only 19, so you have me beat. Twins Daily is a great site. I love the discussions and info and even the back-and-forth banter. -

Thanks. It sounds scary enough. Let's hope for the best. -
Every other time I read these reports, it seems as if Hackimer has pitched X number of innings, gave up no runs, and struck out everybody. This guy needs a bump up.

I noticed that all of the runs the Twins scored were earned...I thought there was an error on the throw to second that contributed to the five runs...it's a curious curiosity.

The Polka-man also deserved a better fate. That was really something to remember. 76.8% strikes? Who throws that many strikes? I would have thought it was a 'typo' if not for MLB.com. Who does this guy think he is, Greg Maddux? I thought it was interesting that the competing pitchers were very similar in their approach. No one throwing 90+, but very little solid contact--keep throwing strikes and keep the hitters off-balance.

Article: Attitude a Difference for Twins in 2019

I agree for the most part, but I haven't yet gulped down the Sano Kool-aid. Blasting a few homers in a couple of games does not a season make. There are signs pointing in both directions at the moment. As a sports analyst here in Japan recently said about Yokozuna (highest sumo rank) Kakuryu after he lost his bout, "Old bad habits have a way of re-appearing at the worst moments." -
Strike up the music the Polka-man has arrived in the big league!!

I knew Sunday's game was a matinee, and I had predicted the Twins would sweep before I hit the hay last night. People are going to say, "Yeah, but it was the White Sox, so really?" The White Sox are nearly as good as the Indians (IMHO), especially now that the Indians are dealing with their "hard-to-swallow" injuries. The real tests are coming though; we start playing the beasts from the east this week. This will be a good test of the Twins' mettle.

It's been great. I love the fact that they called up Littel instead of Stewart.

Certainly Wade continues to amaze with the OBP, but he just can't seem to push his BA high enough to get over the last hurdle. This is his third try at AAA (I believe), but it's looking like the other two so far.

Thanks for this. It's always appreciated. I hope I'm not jumping the gun, but it seems as if Kirilloff is finally starting to get it figured out this season.

There are some perhaps subtle differences, which go over well with the players. I think his management style has less to do with dealing with millenials and more to do with simply respecting every player on the roster. Not trashing players in the media or anywhere else is simply wise managing skills. He has said that he has only two rules, "Have fun but respect the game." I think that notion gives rise to more relaxed players. He also sits players down, something I see very rarely in baseball. This idea that, "Player X is starting in right field no matter what unless he's injured and even then, we'll see how bad his injury is," is not a good long-term strategy IMHO. Look at last year. Morrison played almost every game even though we found out that he actually had a nagging injury. Rocco's style is 180 degrees away from this idea. In his world, rested and healthy players have more fun than injured and wearied soldiers.

This home run thing is mind-boggling; all this without Garver and Cruz in the lineup. I have never seen anything even approaching this display of power by a Twins team--granted, I was too young at the time to remember the Killebrew era well, but I doubt it was anything like this, was it?

Yeah, and even though it's flat and straight, he can't throw it over the plate when leading by two touchdowns...

The funny thing is that the game could have been played yesterday (according to Rocco's comments). They have a different standard out in CA. I remember once when living in northern CA having my weekend ruined when the A's cancelled their game against the Twins the day before the game was to played because of the forecast of rain. I went to the stadium anyway on the day because it wasn't even raining, but it really was cancelled! I love the lineup roulette. It keeps players fresh. De Jong will probably be sent down...I mean Adams.

I agree completely. It seems unlikely that his career is over. Over long stretches, he really had been lights out and then, suddenly he can't get anyone out? There must be something that changes in his delivery...maybe it is such a small change that it is almost imperceptible.

Article: MIN 8, LAA 3: Bats Break Loose Late
Aerodeliria replied to AJ Condon's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Today's game was really one of my favorite games (I say today's; I suppose I should say last night/this morning's game; it all gets jumbled when spanning the Pacific Ocean) and also the first game against the Angels at the Big A (do they still play there?). Last year, I sincerely doubt we would have won either of those games. In the opening game (the 3-1 victory), the 2018 Twins would have almost certainly squandered the lead as the 2019 Twins also proceeded to do, but eventually the 2018 version would have almost certainly lost the game in the 8th or 9th inning. In the 8-3 win, the 2019 Twins did something they haven't really done even this year. They locked things down and came roaring back to win. For me, this was Pineda's best performance. Sure he gave a home run to Trout, but it's going to eventually happen when you play the Angels and after his wild pitch, he could have just phoned it in, but instead, he got tough and started really pitching well. Besides, he didn't give up 6 hits to La Stella, which was a refreshing change of pace. Also, the Twins mounted a comeback against a very decent Angels bullpen, and they delivered a number of big hits with two outs. This time they completed the comeback by not only tying the score in one inning but putting the game away in the next. Arraez........(no words).- 86 replies

The Good: Great win (although I feel bit sorry for Odorizzi, who deserved a better fate, but he was also 'good'). Ryne Harper pitched well again (and it's a pity he was charged with the run, but that's baseball). Sano's blast. Rogers after La STELLAAAAAAAAAAAA! Parker. Arraez!! Defense and pitching! The Bad: The offense in general. Rogers' pitch selection to La STELLAAAAAA after 0-2. The Ugly: Injuries on consecutive plays for the Angels. The umpire was terrible according to mlb.com's pitch locator. His strike zone was quite inconsistent throughout the game.
