  1. this one was too much like the Atlanta series to think the offense has changed...
  2. Gallo with a leadoff homer? About as likely as Duran blowing a save/win opportunity...
  3. You might want to hold your breath and not refresh Peacock..
  4. In truth most of these signings/trades have turned out better than I expected. If I had to choose one, I dislike, it has to be Gallo. Not as much because of what he has done so far, but because of Larnach and Wallner being in AAA now. the rest I believe will by Oct or already are good to great signings/trades.
  5. Moran time? Bottom of the order with righties coming up
  6. I do not disagree. Just looking for opinions on the 1 or 2 they're going to be really good players compared to the possibility of those are going to be or maybe really good players.
  7. Rocco can't wait to pull the trigger on subs. Was hoping for Miranda getting another AB.
  8. Strange things can happen when you get on base Bux.
  9. TY, my steaming services do not include a bird with colorful feathers...
  10. I don't disagree. It's sketchy. They haven't shown that they can pull it off so far. Lewis's injuries and Green being pretty hittable despite the WOW velo, seems like a 1A, 1B to me. both look like good players, great? Jury is still out on it. Like I said just curious on other opinions.
  11. I'm paying a lot more attention to this draft then I normally do. Not really sure why. Maybe it's the Twins getting lucky and landing #5 or maybe it's a really strong draft class. I wonder if the 2020 draft and season have a lot to do with that. Pandemic/5 round draft/ a lot more HS players went onto college. The top 100 this year compares to the top 50-75 the last couple years. With that being said I'm wondering if this isn't an opportunity for the Twins to capitalize on their luck, a deep class and a large bonus money pool. Something like what the Pirates did in 2021 where they ended up with 5 of the top 100 prospects. Maybe the other teams are thinking that way as well. IDK just a thought. Don't get me wrong if one of Skenes, Langford or Clark (probably the most likely of the three) are there garb him and move on from that idea. But let's say a well under slot guy at 5, a HS catcher or pitcher at 34 (over slot $), then power arms or more HS players at high bonuses in rounds 2-4. Just curious how others feel/think about that strategy?
  12. How about a good offensive game against a leftie today?
  13. Agreed. ACL tears compared to multiple IL stints per season is a bit different. I wouldn't call Lewis injury prone at this point. Overreaction, both positive and negative is the status que on TD.. I'm guilty of it as well. Ober has been outstanding all season. With Ryan, Lopez and Ober locked in for 3-4 more seasons I'm feeling pretty good about our starters now and going forward. There were a few runs left on the field yesterday, but most were due to great plays by Baltimore not bad offense. Today a leftie starter with bad numbers...The Twins Kryptonite...
  14. like I said: I think I'd prefer to keep Ober and the $26 million.
  15. Oye. that's pretty steep for Goldie. Don't get me wrong I'd love to have him on the Twins, but the package would likely be built around starting pitching. Something like Ober and SWR. I think I'd prefer to keep Ober and the $26 million. Oh, and Goldschmidt has a no trade clause.
  16. It'd have to be a huge under slot signing for this to make even a slight bit on sense at 5. At 5 I would hope if it's a hitter that has 3-4 stand out tools. not one, maybe 2. Didn't we draft like 6-8 SS last year and most look like 2nd or 3rd basemen? If they aren't taking the one of the obvious top 5 then I'd prefer Teel, Dollander, Lowder or Meyers.
  17. Good pick at 34 or even 13 (our original spot?) at 5 taking a high floor/low ceiling player is poor talent acquisition...@ 5 you hope for a star not hope for a utility/2nd baseman/leftfielder when it's all said and done. Gifted the #5 pick and then wasting it on a safe pick is like building a roster of 3 true outcome players and wondering why the whole team struggles....
  18. Definitely a roster issue. Rocco Imo is limited in how much he can affect the team as a whole when he is handed a roster full of 3 outcome players. The FO built the team on pitching, defense and homeruns. The big $ players are not caring their weight which makes a flawed roster even worse. 2-3 of Solano, Castro and Taylor on a good team would be bench players not starters. Vazquez is .100 OPS under his career norms. That is mostly due to lack of slug. A lot of his value comes from behind the plate and plays a part in the pitching this season. So, I'm not as down as others on his performance. If I'm looking for who to blame, it's 70% FO, 20% Rocco and 10% the players... The team needs a good two weeks before the all-star break, which feels very unlikely. We are creeping towards a system wide failure comment from this FO.
  19. I know this guy that just might be able to fix things...
  20. A batting order of Arraez, Correa, Buxton, Gallo and Kepler isn't going to produce that many more runs than putting Juilien or a healthy Polanco in his place. IMO. An example from yesterday's game. Kirilloff gets a leadoff base hit, Vazquez walks. the next three strike out. inning over...With RISP Arraez would definitely make the team a lot better at that. I just don't believe 1 player would fix this offense. Lopez has pitched well enough to give the team a chance to win most of his games. How many starters could you say that about the past couple seasons? The Marlins have Arraez, Soler, De La Cruz and Sanchez all playing well and hitting for average. We have none of that.
  21. For lack of a better or more polite way to put it..The offensive problem is in the cover photo..With the platoon obsession. Correa and Buxton are the only real regulars. HOPEFULLY Correa turns it on in September and Buxton manages to make it through the WHOLE season as a DH. If not for how bad the Al central is, we would and probably should be talking about who we can trade..
  22. I'm hoping he makes it to the Twins. Seems like a perfect fit from what the past drafts seem to show and real upside, After him it seems like a few players in the HS upside area, That we haven't seen this FO take the plunge for. I'm hoping picks 1-4 make it ez for the Twins to take him at #5.
  23. I'm happy to take the heat I may deserve it but I want to argue against a few of the trades being bad ones... Pablo for Arraez. I get the huffing and puffing about it. Today I watched Kirilloff get a single followed by a Vazquez walk and then 3 K's. How is an amazing hitter like Arraez going to fix a team wide failure? An Arraez single that drives in a run is very unlikely to offset 5 innings who? of Chris Archer. VERY UNLIKELY...MLB network is already talking about how much $ he should make when he's a FA.. Dyson, is a given but is that something the FO can find out before the trade? Seems dicey to me. Sure, it definitely is a bad trade in hindsight. At the time it was a fair trade. The Twins didn't really part with anyone to bring Dyson onboard. Lopez...No argument here. Didn't like this trade then and REALLY don't like it now. 3 months total of great pitching in 2-4 seasons is a recipe for overpaying, and that is what happeneds.. 10 time out of 10 I'd trade Roger's and Rooker for Paddack, Pagan and Medina. A set up guy and a guy you probably have to cut for three lottery tickets. There aren't too many FO's that would do that trade. if any.. And finally, the elephant in the room. Yes, definitely the Twins lost on this (Mahle) trade. No agruement here..It was a gamble from the start and the Twins are paying for it now. Not unlike the Rays trading Ryan for Cruz. We and they gave up depth for immediate returns. The Rays are MUCH better positioned to have an oops. We are definitely not. 2 of 5 definitely bad or terrible. 2 of 5 meh....bad to OK, IDK 1 of 5 I disagree. I may and probably am wrong. I'll take 140-180 quality pitched innings over a .300- .350 BA with no power 7 days a week.
