  1. You mean we can't add it to this thread and push it to 100 pages, 200,000 views and 2000 replies?
  2. Okay, I'm off of adding Lux as a piece, let's get Barnes instead.
  3. Would love to see Barnes involved in the Dozier trade. I love a catcher who can play other positions (esp infield).
  4. I'd be fine with 3 pieces - DeLeon, Alverez and Lux, just drop the 4th piece
  5. I'll say this, this update will probably push this thread to 1500 posts and 70 pages.
  6. Mods, With this post over 63,000 views, and nearly 800 replies (not to mention 40 pages) - isn't it time to come up with a new label like "Scalding" instead of just "Hot"
  7. ScottyB: Dodgers Trade for Dozier Not to be Completed in Next 24 Hours From Dec 7 at 3:19
  8. Dave, Is it true that 8,221 of your 10,743 posts are in this topic?
  9. The article specifically says the Pads will NOT trade him for Diaz.
  10. See the 1999 Rule 5 Draft when the Twins had the #1 pick and took Jered Camp from the Indians and the Marlins had #2 and took Johan Santana from the Astros. The Twins then traded Camp for Santana AND Cash - essentially getting Santana for zero outlay. And as Spycake said, Rule 5 Draft rules still applied and Santana had to remain on the roster the full year. This is probably what is happening here and as pointed out elsewhere, Haley is closer to Major League ready than Diaz. It would be intriguing to get international money, but with SD adding so many, my guess is we get cash which we will use to pay for Haley. Again a zero outlay situation.
  11. My perfect trade? Dozier to the Nationals for Scherzer, Giolito, and Harper. That sounds realistic, doesn't it? I'd throw in Berrios for Strasburg and Trea Turner. Of course in my world the sky is orange.
  12. If it's leadership you want to sign him for, I'd rather take Hunter or Cuddyer out of the front office. They could give us outfield defense as good as Grossman with a decent bat and just as realistic as Napoli without clogging the 1B/DH situation. Just say no to Napoli.
  13. Here's something to chew on. In Tony Larussa's tenure as manager of the White Sox - late 70's, early 80's, he was actually contemplating an eight man pitching staff - that's 8 - e-I-g-h-t. Leaving 17 position players. He talked about a 4-man starting rotation, 1 swing man, 2 relievers and "closer" who could pitch 2-3 innings every game. The most pitchers he would go with was nine. Now we have to carry at least 12 pitchers and sometimes 13. Unbelievable!!! And remember this - TK had a 9-man staff for both of the World Series, with 3-man starting staffs for each: 87 - Viola, Blyleven, Straker 91 - Morris, Tapani, Erickson
  14. At one point Tommy John did Twins games - no Minnesota connection there. Personally I was really disappointed when Ryan Lefebvre left for KC - I would welcome him back in a heartbeat.
  15. How about Kendrys Morales in 2014?
  16. Give Cuddy a chance. He's always been interested in broadcasting.
  17. I want to throw this back out there: Top of my list Dan Kantrovitz, Assistant GM of the A's.He's only 37 and has spent the last 14 years split between the A's and the Cards (doing 2 stints with each). He was director of Scouting for the Cards; in charge of oversight of statistical analysis for evaluating and targeting players in the draft, free agency and trades; and extensive international operations experience for the A's.He also has a Masters in Statistics from Harvard.Billy Beane's sidekick, but with extra experience in the Card's front office, so he knows how to win. I'll throw one more thing out - he's worked with fiscal constraints of the A's. I think he'd make a great team with Falvey.
  18. Does Park have any future or value (remembering he may have had a bad wrist most of the season)?
  19. Healthy number in the "just missed" category with either 100+ RBI and 95 Runs or vice-versa - Killer - '70 (113 RBI, 96 R); '64 (111 RBI, 95 R) Kirby - '86 (96 RBI, 119 R) Tony O - '65 (98 RBI, 107 R); '69 (101 RBI, 97 R); '70 (107 RBI, 96 R) Hisle - '77 (119 RBI, 95 R) Morneau - '06 (130 RBI, 97 R); '08 (129 RBI, 97 R) Gaetti - '87 (109 RBI, 95 R) Molly - '96 (113 RBI, 99 R) Just a little more trivia
  20. Light is on the 40 man
  21. They also have Plouffe at 3B. Something tells me all 3 will be gone. I'm hoping an outside GM won't make extension mistakes.
