  1. I have to be honest, when I looked up the Triple A stats for last year and I saw "Jimmy Kerrigan: 1.062 OPS" my initial reaction was 'Who?'. Reading up, he actually had a pretty impressive year.
  2. Do you know how many players at Rochester had a .750 or higher OPS? 10. Four of those (Polanco, Kerrigan, Sano, Grossman) played 4 games or fewer. Six of the ten (Polanco, Sano, Grossman, Austin, Astudillo, Cave) finished the year on the big club. Buxton was another of the ten and he should've been up. Only player left is catcher Wynston Sawyer. Kerrigan and Sawyer are the only two still officially in Triple A which means Olt slides right in as the 3rd best hitter on the team. This signing improves the gameday roster, doesn't block anyone lower in the system(Rooker possibly?) and doesn't take up a 40 spot. If you want to be upset at a roster move that's fine, just maybe find one that will have more of an impact than this one. *EDIT* Jimmy Kerrigan is actually on the Wahoos now so that makes Olt the 2nd best hitter on the team as it is currently constructed.
  3. Grossman was exactly this kind of signing and while he wasn't a game changer while he was here, I do believe he was serviceable and provided at least decent value for the cost. Olt didn't even receive an invite to ST I believe. Every team makes multiple moves like this every offseason.
  4. Funny yet also painfully accurate
  5. What I find interesting is that the Dodgers really haven't made a push to keep him. They seem more willing to go after Harper instead of a guy they had in the building for a couple of months. Maybe I'm just seeing more than what's actually there, but that could be an interesting statement on how teams view him.
  6. I laughed out loud at this.... Then..... I started to think about it and it has a weird sort of logic to it. Also just the awesomeness of watching that hair trying to go first-to-home on a Cruz double is totally worth it
  7. Things I need to know about Nelson Cruz: A) Boomstick End of list
  8. Blind optimism is how the blind squirrel finds nuts. It could work
  9. This. Especially if they pull the trigger on Machado. At that point andujar is the odd man out.
  10. 14 million for a rental with an 850 ops last season that would've slotted him in at second highest on the team after Eduardo Escobar (852)? Yeah, I'll take that rental
  11. Goodbye Tyler Austin. We hardly knew ye.
  12. There are pitchers who have been better more recently that were non tendered today. Go after some of them first then maybe circle back around to miller
  13. The fact that the Mets are all hot and heavy for this tells me that it’s a terrible deal so hard pass
  14. Bad enough that rostering a Rule 5 guy in the bullpen for an entire season isn't completely out of the realm of possibility. Dumpster fire doesn't do that team justice. More like a dumpster blaze.
  15. It actually makes a ton of sense. They're the Mets...
  16. There is a reason he was a DH/1B in Boston. He couldn't stay healthy playing anywhere else. Plugging him in as a middle infielder is a disaster waiting. And I'm talking a Hindenburg-esque disaster here.
  17. Just curious but why Greinke and not Bumgarner? As for Machado, I'd still kick the tires but ya know he really did kind of sour me with his antics during the playoffs. And yes, they were antics.
  18. I'm all for giving Donaldson a "prove it" deal for 1 year. Solid bat, solid glove and more importantly, he's a guy that seems to have a really strong desire to win. I think that could be a good influence on a team that sometimes seems too laid back for their own good.
  19. They may not operate with "untouchables", but at a certain point the price asked becomes so prohibitive that they become untouchable even if you don't call them that. I can't imagine the cubbies moving Bryant without an absolutely massive influx of talent coming the other way. Paxton on the other hand, maybe we can do a deal that isn't too bad
  20. You just made me shoot coffee out my nose. Bravo sir! I'll be sending you the bill for my new shirt that I have to buy now
  21. I quite honestly can't tell what you're trying to say. Care to elucidate?
