  1. People have been waiting on Dozier to regress for the last 4 years. It hasn't happened yet and I don't see it happening this year as long as he's healthy
  2. So you're not upset with what he said, you're just upset that he said it? What did you want him to do? Lie?
  3. Just because Dozier will be hitting free agency doesn't mean he won't resign with the Twins. Don't forget, next offseason is probably the worst possible time for Dozier to be a free agent as it's probably the best class in history. All of the contenders are going to be chasing much bigger names than Brian, while he's not really in any of the rebuilding teams' windows of contention. Just a quick list of some guys who may be available (with their ages next offseason): 1. Bryce Harper (26) 2. Manny Machado (26) 3. Clayton Kershaw (31) 4. Josh Donaldson (33) 5. David Price* (33) 6. Craig Kimbrel (30) 7. Charlie Blackmon (32) 8. Daniel Murphy (34) 9. Elvis Andrus* (29) 10. Andrew Miller (33) For what it's worth, Dozier was 11th on this list. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2017/08/21/mlb-2018-free-agent-class-bryce-harper-manny-machado/585368001/
  4. You'd actually have a huge argument if you try to claim Jay Bruce is more valuable than Dozier
  5. Honestly, if this move comes down to keeping either Grossman or Vargas, I have to go with Grossman. A high OBP guy who doesn’t seem to be affected by time between at bats and has at least decent positional flexibility, that’s valuable
  6. Pretty sure this means it’s curtains for Vargas as a Twin
  7. Kind of hard to be a difference maker in a bullpen when you're sitting on the DL, which is where Chargois has basically spent his entire professional career. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on the DL again this year.
  8. Until there's evidence that it affects his hitting, he can do a spinning heel kick for all I care.
  9. Seriously? That's what stuck with you about this?
  10. What reality has been invented? The only reality that is being discussed is that Sano has come into camp overweight enough that our front office has had to field questions on whether his size will affect his performance. I doubt very much that there is any sort of "weight goal" in writing, however it is not difficult to deduce from their concern that an general outline of where they would like him to be exists and has been discussed with him. If it hasn't, that is negligence on the part of management. If they are viewing it as an issue, why shouldn't we? Also, don't recall seeing a single comment on here calling Miguel obese and lazy. Lamenting that he seems to have such a hard time being disciplined with his fitness, yes. Obese and lazy, no.
  11. My concern isn't necessarily that he's coming in "overweight". It's been pointed out multiple times that each person has a different ideal weight because of height and body type. My concern is that if he's being given a weight goal going into an offseason of what the team wants him to weigh coming into the spring, and he's missing it, that's a huge problem. He's basically telling his bosses that he doesn't feel the need to do what they ask of him. That shows a lack of discipline and accountability on his part. I get why people are saying, "but he's still good". Great. Awesome. My response is why stop at "good" when with a little discipline he could be "great"?
  12. Judge is actually about 280... and he's at least 3 inches taller than Sano
  13. Probably Izzy. Coach Snoop would call him Jizzy
  14. Don't get me wrong, I like Gerrit Cole, not sure he's all that much better than Odorizzi though. Just taking a quick look at the stats and a lot of stuff seems pretty close. Their FIPs are a bit apart but the problem there is Cole regularly under-performs his while Odorizzi regularly over-performs. Take in to account what was paid in prospects and and contract, seem pretty close. 15. I was legitimately ready to jump off a building after the Sanchez signing. Now my faith has been restored somewhat. I honestly don't understand what the Rays are doing here. Odorizzi could look pretty good now that he's out of the bandbox stadiums which the AL East loves.
  16. Gold lining: This means there isn't going to be a Party at Napoli's: Twins Edition now... Hopefully.
  17. I would only ask that you be really careful ending posts with paragraphs like that. Up until this point all of your points and opinions seemed reasonable. When you drop something like this though it just smacks of a lack of foresight. After all, they may be a lawyer who works on things like this every day. They may know multiple women who have been through terrible things. Unless you know for a fact that they don't, please just try to sound less dismissive of their opinion. Which in the end has as just as much value as your own.
  18. I seriously hope a Kepler breakout is next on the to-do list. Assuming sustained performances from Rosie and Buck, if Kepler piles on, I'd consider placing money on them in Vegas as the best outfield in the league combining both offensive and defensive metrics.
  19. I personally don't believe that being concerned about the one precludes us from being concerned about the other. Considering that the fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters are what make us all who we are. Honestly I look at those numbers, however you cut them up, and feel a moderate amount of shame that crap like this still goes on.
  20. Never thought my first post on TD would be on an article like this but it is what it is. All I'm going to say is if after this investigation is over, if Falvine has even one little twitch of belief that Sano did this then trade him. I don't want him on the team. That then sets a precedent for younger players who are working their way up that if your performance is good enough, the organization will overlook inexcusable behavior. That precedent will absolutely kill any decent "clubhouse culture" that is always being talked about. If he did it, I want him off the team in less than 12 hours.
