  1. They still have Varland at AAA, but after that is pretty empty. Probably why they signed Keuchel
  2. Gotta remember he’s already 26 still at AA. Maybe he can be a decent 4th outfielder, but I think he’s more likely he’s AAA depth similar to Mark Contreras
  3. There are a couple somewhat bright spots like Schobel, Rosario, De Andrade. But yeah a lot of guys who are/were prospects aren’t hitting well. Somehow both teams have winning records so I’m curious if their pitching has just been that good, or if offense is hard to come by in those leagues.
  4. 1. Lewis 2. Lee 3. Julien 4. Varland 5. Raya 6 Rodrigues 7. Martin 8. Festa 9. SWR 10. Prielipp 11. Severino 12. Miller 13. Wallner 14. Salas 15. Hidalgo 16. Nowlin 17. Mercedes 18. Rodrigues 19. Headrick 20. Ross
  5. Gordon will make the team, and it’s pretty clear they view him more of an outfielder than infielder. Starting Larnach at AAA is fine as he’s hasn’t yet proven he can stay both healthy and effective. And let’s be honest the odds are pretty good someone will get hurt before opening day.
  6. The coaches should give him every opportunity to earn a rotation spot in spring training. The front office should NOT assume he will get that spot. If he does it’s a bonus that deepens the pitching staff.
  7. It’s not really that surprising. Both are too old for a rebuilding team to want them. And not good enough for any contenders to pick them up.
  8. You’re gonna be hard pressed to find a player after the first round without some flaw or concern.
  9. Kepler’s offense doesn’t make sense to me. His approach at the plate and his swing looks like a guy who should hit .270-.300 with solid power. Yet he always ends up hitting like .230.
  10. They all got past through very later in the offseason, when most teams 40 man rosters are full. And yeah they’re not studs by any means, but the depth is nice. It also wouldn’t be crazy for something to click with one of them and develop into a solid BP piece.
  11. Blankenhorn won’t get cut. Gotta think it’ll be Gibault or Tortuga, maybe an outside chance it’s Smeltzer or Thorpe
  12. I think the goal this front office has is to create a team that is always somewhat competitive without rebuilding. Then the hope is that everything will come together one season and we win it all. Honestly I would prefer a competitive team every year over a team that wins it all and then sucks for 5 years straight.
  13. Having good quality depth is extremely important. Most years a pitching staff will have a lot more injuries than the Twins did in 2019. And having guys be able to come up and pitch at a average level is huge.
  14. If we can’t get any of the top starters and I’m the Twins FO I would resign Pineda, trade for at least a #3 starter, and sign a lesser starter (preferably one with some upside). That rotation should be good enough to get a playoff spot, and we can hope to trade for an ace mid season again.
