  1. This article is spot on! No more assembling a roster that will compete for the last wildcard spot. Put a roster together that will contend for a world series or rebuild. It's not always going to work but we are not going to spend like the Yankees and Dodgers. Are best bet is to have the star power on our team before they demand the big dollars.
  2. 100% trade him. We are not going to be competing for a World Series anytime soon. He had a career year and if he continues to produce at this level a really team friendly contract. He would bring nice pieces for a rebuild which is what needs to happen.
  3. At best I see us fighting for the last wild card spot! SO EXCITED!
  4. I don't disagree about teams always being in a rebuild mode. But to me it is our best chance at winning a world series. It's been 34 years since we last one a WS. I wasn't old enough to remember it. In that time frame we have been to the ALCS once. I feel part of the reason for this is the franchise's goal is just to make the playoffs. I don't want to just make the post season. I want the Twins to win it. I don't see that happening in the next 2 years. So you trade your tradable pieces and try again in a few years. It is the only way we compete for a WS. It took the Royals years of being terrible but they finally got it done. I'd take that over being semi-competitive more often than not.
  5. To me it is pretty simple, is the goal to compete for a playoff berth or to compete for a world series? We can probably not trade either of them and this team can be kind of flirty and dangerous and make the playoffs and get bounced in round one next year. OR trade them for top prospects and put a world series contender on the field in 5 years. I'd rather sacrifice years of a pretty good team for one chance at a monster. A team that truly can compete for a world series.
  6. He was a key player on those early 2000s teams but is he really worthy of being in the Twins HOF?? He never made an all-star team. Never won a world series. He was a key player on the early 2000s teams that would get bounced in the playoffs. But that's pretty much it.
  7. What else can they do? We aren't going to go and outbid anyone for the top free agents. We have to build a strong core from within and hope they turn out to be stars like the Royals in 2015. That is the only way we win a world series. Then when the stars contracts are up they sign for big money and we start over. We aren't winning one anytime soon so load up with prospects. And when we are a WORLD SERIES contender (not the last team wildcard team), you trade prospects to get the pieces that puts you over the top. That is something the Twins don't do.
  8. Do you guys see us being a WS contender while Joe Ryan is under contract with us? And when is contract is up do we have a chance of signing him? Both answers are no. That's why you trade him for a haul.
  9. We need to make moves that makes us a WORLD SERIES contender. Not a PLAYOFF contender. I don't see is competing for a WORLD SERIES in the next few years so IMO everyone should be on the block. Sacrifice the next couple years in hopes of putting together a monster in the next 5 years. I think too often the FO and fans want to build a roster to make the playoffs. That should not be the goal. World Series is the goal and I don't see one while during Joe Ryan's final 2.5 years.
  10. I started a Bauer to the Twins thread when the Twins were in contention and it made sense. Now it doesn't because we are not in contention. I feel it is necessary to point out the accusations made against him were found to be completely untrue. (Did she end up being charged with a crime because of how bad her lies were?) Anyway the guy was never convicted nor charged with anything and what is being done to him is flat wrong. He is the biggest "me too" victim ever.
  11. Buxton played 100 games....not all heros wear capes.
  12. Rocco needs to go. His bullpen/starting pitching management has cost them games too many games
  13. Typical Twins behavior. Never wanting to "go for it" in fear of losing a precious unproven at the MLB level prospect.
  14. So these allegations according to you are just as legitimate as the one the where all the accuser's allegations were found to be not true? Guilty until proven innocent in your eyes. You can not want him on our team and that's fine but if a reason is because there are allegations of SA as credible as the Lindsey Hill one then your reasoning is 100% flawed. He was clearly "me too'd". The fact is teams would put up with him for being a jerk but not he is getting "me too'd" and that is what is keeping him from having an MLB job ant that is B.S. because the initial allegation was all one big lie.
  15. Are these other allegations more or less legitimate than the one the got himself on MLB’s naughty list and how do you know if they are more legitimate? mookie Betts has stated he would take Bauer back.
  16. Yeah, he definitely would not be an upgrade over Paddack and Lopex at this point. Those ERA's over 5 should really bode well for the Twins down the stretch.
  17. What makes you say he’s not good anymore? You seriously think the Twins’ starting 5 are all better than him?
  18. TD has posted a few articles on who the Twins should target for pitching help down the stretch. Just sign Trevor Bauer already. The guy has stated he would play for the league minimum so he would be cheap. The allegations made against him were proven to be completely false. He dominated in Japan last year and is doing the same in Mexico this year. He would be our #2 at a minimum. Multiple players have stated he is a great clubhouse guy. What am I missing here?
  19. Who else should’ve been selected?
  20. One month does not make him worth his contract. My goodness. He was bad in 2022. He was atrocious in 2023 and up until a month ago he was in between bad and atrocious. He has a lot of homers to hit to make up for 2.5 years of bad baseball.
  21. This has always been Buxton at the plate. He has always been unimpressive. Twins fans all thought he would figure it out. All you had to do was looks at his career stats and realize he is just a bad MLB hitter. But some of you thought we HAD to sign him. At the time we resigned him he had been a 1x all star with a career BA around .230 and had no track record of staying healthy. Why did we NEED to sign the guy?
  22. I was going to ask why it is so automatic that Buxton always bats in the 3/4 spot. But when I see the rest of the lineup I understand.
  23. Honestly, how fragile is this man if you are all concerned with him getting an injury if he attempts to steal more bags? IF the Twins won't let him play CF to keep him healthy and IF they don't let him steal bases to keep him healthy then what good is he? Those are his two best tools. He can turn a walk into a double all the time if he wanted. Based on his last years dreadful performance I could care less if we save him for October. If I remember right the Twins played better after the put him on the injured list.
  24. His career .239 BA says otherwise.
