  1. Yep. You’re forfeiting potential gains in the here and now by holding on to a stock that may rebound in a year. Sometimes, you’re really concerned about that gain one year from now. Other times, you care more about the here and now. The Twins are the latter.
  2. Woof. That popup was a pitch he usually hits 400 ft.
  3. Still waiting to see an article on TD titled “The Eds Are Alright”.
  4. Like I say every spring, "too many pitchers" is a problem that usually sorts itself out before it actually becomes a problem. One injury and everything reorganizes itself.
  5. After that outing and coupled with the Twins' recent floundering, I believe there's something approaching a zero chance Romero gets fewer than 3-4 more starts before a decision is made either way.
  6. It's not that anything stands out as out of line with MiLB players, it's that the actual MLB results of rookies are all over the place and you may as well try to throw a dart at a board blindfolded as to accurately predict a rookie season. I'm not arguing that Steamer is wrong and I'm right, I'm saying that more often than not, everybody is wrong. See Sano, Berrios, and Buxton for examples. I'm almost certain Steamer didn't predict Sano's 149 wRC+ or Buxton/Berrios' epic meltdowns as rookies.
  7. That’s fair. I’m not saying they’re worthless but when I’ve tracked them, I haven’t felt comfortable relying on them at all.
  8. I don’t really see the point. The Twins already leapfrogged several guys to call up Romero. Next on the list is surely Gonsalves. And then we have the return of Santana and May. There’s simply no room for Hughes in the organization.
  9. I’m not saying the Twins should or should not promote Wade but are ZiPS/Steamer projections even remotely accurate for MiLB players? From what I’ve seen over the years, they’re rarely even close (but it’s not as if I diligently check the things).
  10. Yeah, I don't get that. Starting some of those guys in Chattanooga to avoid weather issues in April was a savvy move. Keeping those guys in Chattanooga as the calendar flips to May is not.
  11. Something we've seen with alarming frequency this season (mainly the past two weeks).
  12. I agree, to an extent. The obvious long term plan here is Gordon. If the front office is confident Sano will be back, one week of Petit is no big deal. If a longer term solution is needed, Gordon should be ready to take that role.
  13. I think the takeaway here is that the team is confident Sano will be back in a week. I don’t like the idea of Petit being on this team but if you’re looking for a scrub to throw away in a week, whatever. He’s as good as the next guy.
  14. He single-handedly lost a couple of strikes for his pitchers last night. He was stabbing at the ball far too often. And coupled with his defensive gaffes, I'm not sure what to think about Lynn's line. It wasn't good but Lance should have been either out of an inning or pitching through a much better situation had Garver not had an epically bad baseball game last night.
  15. I can shrug off bad pitching for a month. It happens. I can shrug off bad hitting for a month. It happens. Entire pitching staffs and lineups sometimes flounder at the same time. I can accept those things and not get too worked up about it. I've watched a lot of baseball over the years and sometimes, the stars align in a positive way. Other times, they align in the worst way possible. So I'll just ride out this bad stretch before demanding a massive roster overhaul. But what chaps me to no end is the sloppy, SLOPPY play by the defenders. Rodney has been bad but he probably blows two fewer saves if his defense makes routine plays behind him. I can recall at least half a dozen losses that swung against the Twins after someone in the field did something incredibly stupid and/or lazy. And it's not one guy making all the mistakes. It's at least half the friggin' team. On a nightly basis, someone new steps forward and laces up their clownshoes in preparation for an epic night of failure. And that's unacceptable. If this team was merely competent defensively, they're probably 11-13 or even 12-12 right now. We're a bit disappointed by the month as a whole but are able to look forward to improvement. Instead, they've dug themselves a six game hole to climb out of in a division that has one of the best teams in the AL sitting on top.
  16. I like this Kepler kid. I’ve always liked him but my affection was muted a bit after last season. I shouldn’t have underestimated his ability to adjust.
  17. He didn’t mention it directly that I remember but it was implied that he’s doing partial games and will do more in the future.
  18. He left after the fourth or fifth inning. Bremer mentioned it.
  19. Eh... Dozier is generally a pretty smart player. I’m not going to hold one boneheaded move against him. But you’re also right that gold gloves don’t mean a hell of a lot. Dozier isn’t a GG fielder IMO.
  20. He was obviously trying to catch it on the bounce but misplayed it.
  21. Yeah, exactly. Garver basically coughed up three runs by himself in the first three innings. And that’s only tonight. Almost every night, we get a new clownshoe performance from someone that ends up losing the game.
