  1. Nope... the one thing that really confused me this offseason was pretty much everything about the Rule 5 draft.
  2. Just a friendly reminder the Pirates have all of four hits in this game and none in this inning.
  3. I’m convinced that Duke guy is a sleeper agent.
  4. Or that he just calls a full 25% of his teammates “caballo”.
  5. He’s awesome. You should look up videos of the guy. He’s a clown.
  6. I'm pretty sure this game is a prime example of why some people hate baseball. What a yawner. Big lead in the first on sloppy pitching, then... *crickets*
  7. Lynn doesn't want to attack the strike zone but he is interested in scaring it a little bit. More of a startle, really.
  8. I can't help but look at Odorizzi and think of Scott Baker, the much lamented and unfairly treated starter... When Scott was rolling with his high fastball and solid strikeout rate, he was an extremely good pitcher. Naturally, he earned the nickname "moonshot" because when things went badly, they really turned south for the guy. But had Baker stayed healthy, I'm fully convinced he would have been a very good pitcher. And modern baseball thinking is kind of going that way with the high fastball that induces mostly quiet contact (and quite a few misses) with the occasional loud contact.
  9. Watched The Disaster Artist the other night. If you’ve watched The Room, it’s a must-see film. So much fun to watch and Franco is an amazing Wiseau.
  10. One thing to consider is that the Twins have as much or more leverage in seven months than they do today. Thanks, qualifying offer. And they get to minimize risk of Dozier collapsing during the 2018 season and being on the hook for four more years of his service. Like I've said a bunch of times, I just don't see the reason to discuss an extension today. There are multiple pieces in play and the front office will have a much better idea of how to proceed in November.
  11. It's certainly a risk but given how many big money teams used this offseason to reset their luxury tax threshold, I doubt next offseason will resemble this offseason. Also, Brian Dozier is both younger and a much better player than Todd Frazier. Dozier's 2017 fWAR value is nearly the equal of Frazier's 2016-2017 fWAR value.
  12. Yeah, that was kind of my point. He's preoccupied with framing on almost every pitch, which diminishes his ability to react to things like balls in the dirt or baserunners.
  13. Castro has mentioned that when he's framing, it's first and foremost in his mind, sometimes to the detriment of other things. I wonder if this is an ugly side effect of his framing.
  14. Ah, good catch. I thought the Orioles were better than that with RISP today.
  15. I believe the idea is that you won’t go 1-for-9 with RISP every time, which means you score more than two.
  16. Even if you count those losses on top of the blown saves (which obviously shouldn't be the case, as there is overlap there and you're counting twice), he converted saves at a nearly 90% clip. Dave, you're just wrong here. Move on. Talk about something else for awhile and don't disrupt the forum with hyperbole. This isn't a suggestion.
  17. Yet by every metric available to us, he was very good that season. He walked too many guys but he has always walked too many guys. But he missed a ton of bats and didn't allow home runs. As a result, his ERA/FIP were very good and he converted saves at a ferocious pace (don't have the stat in front of me but it was around 95% that season).
  18. How didn't he have an outstanding 2014? And his 2017 FIP was 3.03.
  19. He had one absolutely atrocious season in 2015. He bookended that season with an outstanding 2014 and a good 2016.
  20. He's an entirely adequate closer. I was pretty unimpressed by the signing but on a team that needed arms and lots of them, his one year deal won't kill the team. Plus, he's the type of guy you have absolutely no problem replacing midseason if one of the young arms steps forward. He's a decent placeholder, provided his age doesn't catch up to him this season.
  21. Its Camden. I’m pretty sure my wife could hit one out of there and she sometimes has to ask which end of the bat to hold.
  22. Molitor is King Midas today. I agreed with the Grossman move but the Rodney move had me on edge.
