Guest USAFChief Guests Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Did you pass that line to Groucho in the '30s?Still getting small royalty cheques (how's that, north?) in the mail.
GCTF Verified Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Does anyone want to see Clete Thomas play for the Twins in 2014? Doug Bernier? Wilkin Ramirez? No. There's probably at least 10 guys on the 40 man that can go.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 How are they so unbearable? I mean ... they can't be worse than New York or Boston fans (of any sport). It's a Canadian thing.......and a Maple Leafs thing, the greatest hockey team on the planet to not win the Stanley Cup in 46 years, just ask a Toronto fan.
GCTF Verified Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Omit the "the", though. People over 40 call it The Skydome. It's the 35-40 crowd that just say Skydome.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Tutorial for Twins' starters: It is permitted, even encouraged, to get a hitter to swing and miss with two strikes or to not swing and allow a pitch to be caught by the catcher that passed through the strike zone.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Still getting small royalty cheques (how's that, north?) in the mail. You claim those I presume?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 It's a Canadian thing.......and a Maple Leafs thing, the greatest hockey team on the planet to not win the Stanley Cup in 46 years, just ask a Toronto fan.Hmm ... guess I never picked up on that my years in Canada.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 People over 40 call it The Skydome. It's the 35-40 crowd that just say Skydome. Yes, more correct.
GCTF Verified Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 How are they so unbearable? I mean ... they can't be worse than New York or Boston fans (of any sport). Their hockey team hasn't won anything since 1967 but they act like Yankee fans. Something like that,

twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Hmm ... guess I never picked up on that my years in Canada. Didn't you live in Ottawa?!!!.....next time you're in Ottawa, stand in the middle of a busy road and yell "I love Darcy Tucker"......and then run like hell!!!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Didn't you live in Ottawa?!!!.....next time you're in Ottawa, stand in the middle of a busy road and yell "I love Darcy Tucker"......and then run like hell!!!Uh, hmm, I'll take your word on it. Yes ... 1997-2000 in Ottawa.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I fear the scoreless tie will not last through this half inning.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 There's a guy who needed to be speared. In the face. I don't know him. What did he do? I mean, I assume he's a hockey player, but why was he disliked?
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Michael Bourn, Jose Reyes, Chone Figgins--how many more "speed" guys are good free agent signings? I also reference this in regards to signing Jacoby Ellsbury.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I fear the scoreless tie will not last through this half inning.Nope. And with a GDP yet. BTW, there is the huge advantage of being a left handed pitcher. You can bet Goins would have stolen second after the leadoff hit against a righty.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I don't know him. What did he do? I mean, I assume he's a hockey player, but why was he disliked? He's named Darcy, isn't that enough?

My personal fave!.... heh ... ok ... I don't really follow hockey, either ... other than cheering for the Stanley Cup winners Chicago Blackhawks!
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 heh ... ok ... I don't really follow hockey, either ... other than cheering for the Stanley Cup winners Chicago Blackhawks! That's ok by me, Jonathan Toews is my favourite hockey player that doesn't wear a Jet jersey.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 That's ok by me, Jonathan Toews is my favourite hockey player that doesn't wear a Jet jersey. Well, and to be honest ... I can only name two players on the team ... Sharp and Kane.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 1. Since Colabello can actually Colabber the ball when he actually hit's it, why not bat him cleanup and see what he can do? You've put your finger on the problem: putting the ball in play. After his taking another third strike, I think he's high enough there at seventh. He takes enough walks to supplement the BA, his ISO is better than league average. But he needs to improve the batting average before you want him at cleanup.

I told you I don't really follow hockey, but it was fun being here in Chicago and having a winning sports team for a change.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 He needs to improve contact to stay in the major leagues. True. Batting seventh is already nature's way of telling you that you'd better have a reason beyond your bat if you hope to continue collecting major league meal money.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Heads up play by Pedro there.
