Torii was probably my favorite Twins position player when the Twins wouldn't give him "Gary Matthews money".  He was very much tied in with our Twins.  After retirement he came back to be a special instructor during spring training.  He's been doing that for the Angels now.  Something happened with the Twins and Torii.  As quirky and hard to handle as Torii could be he was an absolute grinder.  I 100% respected his toughness and drive to play every day, all out.  As soon as Torii and Johan left, it felt to me like the cajones left with them.

Yes, he put his foot in his mouth from time to time for sure, but from his perspective, does it not make sense to say he has regrets about not playing in KC?  He went to a Twins team that was horrendous and KC ended up winning the World Series when he was with us.

Does it make sense for him to **** on a major fanbase of his to and damage his relationship with an organization likely to be a potential landing spot for future roles in which Torii has expressed interest? Not really. That's why I chalk it up to Torii's long history of foot in mouth rather than an intentionally stupid move.

Side note, mildly annoying TD uses British English as spell check. (organization vs. organisation) (realize vs realise). We're in the U.S. the "z" is proper.
