Trevor Plouffe and Ryan Braun best friends

I have to qualify my statement and question by saying that I like Trevor Plouffe and I really hope that he is clean. In this day of baseball, it is hard to know who did and who didn't and that is why everyone is very suspicious of players that do amazing things.

What makes me question and wonder about Plouffe and his association with Braun is that I believe Plouffe was up and down, up and down, and eventually out of options...I believe. Then it seemed like the talk was DFA-ing him. The next week it seemed like he went on his home run streak. I could see the temptation if he was about to lose his spot on the roster...I also don't think Roids work that quickly but if he was back and forth a few times and decided to take them so he would eventually remain in the big leagues...I don't know.

I hope there will come a time in baseball where we don't have to question the guys doing amazing things like Davis, Braun, and Cabrera...and now Plouffe because of his association with Braun.

PEDs don't work that way. If Plouffe's improvement was due to using, he had been using for far more than a day or two.

Lets be really clear. Major league baseball has rewarded A-Rod and Ryan Braun financially for using steroids even with Braun's suspension and even assuming a lifetime ban for A-Rod. Until contracts are voided and lifetime bans are handed out a guy like Trevor Plouffe would be a fool not to use even if there was a 99% chance of being caught eventually.

Those kind of penalties clearly made sense in respect to the products being used in the 80's and early 90's. I have no clue, but it seems these days you hear less and less about deaths that can be linked to steroids. Of course that could just mean that the products used these days will kill you at 55 or 60 instead of 45. I've never liked the fact that the stated reason that we should be anti steroid is because Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds hit to many Home Runs, this is a health issue and to some extent a legal issue. Everything an athlete chooses to put in or chooses not to put in his body comes with performance in mind as it should be.

Voiding contracts isn't that simple. For one, what would stop someone who was underpaid from taking PEDs so they could test positive for a test and get their contract voided? You and I both know full well that after the suspension that guy gets a lucrative deal? What would stop a team from trying to get an overpaid guy (like A-Rod) from testing positive so that they could void the contract? There are some issues at play here that have to be considered.

So no one can go on a tear without being accused of steroids? Plus, why would he dope for only 35 games? Pretty pointless. And picking something up while visiting Braun wouldn't work over night to morph him into a different player.

Plouffe got hurt when he got hit by a pitch. I believe he was hit on the hand or wrist and derailed his nice streak he was on.

The thing besides being friends is that they worked out together. You will never know the facts and shouldn't jump to conclusions but they know the truth.

The player would have to do steroids on his own, anything else would be a more severe crime then rape. I don't care how the league would choose to handle the team that in this case benefits, but a lot of options exist.

There was an article in our Winona paper (which is a thinly disguised LaCrosse paper), about how Braun lied to his buddy Aaron Rodgers, you know, the quarterback dude, bald faced lies, and how stunned the latter was. I'm pretty sure Plouffe is surprised as anybody who associated with this sleaze.
