I'm not sure why the Twins said Brooks Lee is their third baseman after sending Royce Lewis down. They didn't have to make any statement, and if was pressed they could say they feel most comfortable with Lee at third over the other current candidates on the roster.

What makes even less sense is Lewis is playing third for St Paul. If they plan on moving Lewis to a different position what are they waiting for? He probably makes more sense at first or one of the corner outfield spots. Or simply make him.the DH.

I would expect Lewis is fighting back against a position change and most likely trying to force a trade. They won't trade him when he has no value.

He is better Lewis than at least 3 to 4 current MLB rostered players for the Twins. I don't Lewis everybody's favorite or Flashpoint player for vitriol. He is too talented to give up on. He may be a change  of scenery candidate though. Doesn't look like the MLB staff sees a future for him with Twins with poor on base percentage or batting average. Not gonna lie or sugar coat that Lewis has been strike out prone, lacks contact, and he has left a lot of base runners on the last two seasons. He has been a lot like what Buxton was hus first five seasons, injury prone and inconsistent at the plate. I would play him at SS, see if that makes him a trade candidate.

Would a team trade a Competitive Balance Pick for Royce Lewis?

I would not make that trade. Not because I’m against trading Royce but those picks don’t move the needle for me. I would take the chance that Royce “finds it” rather than a pick that likely won’t amount to much.
