Relax. Culpepper is still picking up skills at AAA. Think June or July.

Maybe Sept. , his gloves skill are horridly lacking.

Have you watched the Saints games? Culpepper is playing a good shortstop right now.

He has played a whole 9 games, his .963 last year was better than his .933 the year before but not good enough.

I asked if you were watching every or any Saints games. Hard to just look at numbers and create a reasonable opinion when it comes to an athlete. If you cannot, that is perfectly fine. Most people cannot spend the time. It seems harsh to level criticism on the unseen.

Fielding statistics ceased being relevant decades ago. There is no person pushing defense on Twins Daily more than I do. Some may match my focus though. In fact, I have been a little annoying about stressing defense on this site. However, if you have not watched the games or go in person to see these players, it makes little sense to judge them based on subjective, non counting, numbers. If you have watched the Twins you have seen batted balls ruled base hits on routine plays or watched a missed catch by a first baseman ruled a throwing error.

BTW, I have written that I would like to see Kaelen Culpepper gain further experience in AAA until June at the earliest, but defense is not a concern for me. He is better with the glove right now than all of Lewis, Lee, Keaschall, and Bell, but I'm not ready to call him up yet.

I have watched AAA player come up to MLB and look like they should still be in Legion Ball. The Twins are not AAA they are the Big Leagues.   Unless he is proven to be better than Lee, leave him where he is till he gets SO good down there that they feel it is worth taking the chance.

I have not seen AAA players with truly good defense numbers come up and suddenly their glove does not work; although, Lee looked good before he got up , and  was very good at 3rd for one season. For some reason, he is losing it, to a degree.

Julien's glove Never looked good in the Minors and he proved it in the majors, I see no reason to think Culpepper is the exception.

I do not, and never will, see any season as a losing proposition - so - it is OK to become a quasi AAA team. Bringing up AAA players early , is doing just that.

There is nothing in St. Paul right now that is any better than what they have -- you can say what about Outman, , they need his glove and his bat, well, when they let his twin brother Fitz go, it was a psychological shock!

Ok. I get it now. You have not seen him play at all but are sure he isn't good. I'm sure you also disapprove of Pittsburgh playing Konnor Griffin as well. How would you know what Julien's defensive play looked like in the minor leagues if you never saw him play in the minor leagues? Magic? What do you think about Pena's glove?

Bringing players up early? I have specifically stated that my take on Culpepper is that he needs a few months at least. That is specifically based on watching him play.

Everyone is free to have an opinion. If might help if the thoughts are based on seeing the player you have opinions on because not every player is the same.

Julien's numbers in the Minors spoke for him, simple as that.
