The if of a strike depends on what the players think they will gain long term versus what they lose short term in striking. As wages go up and careers for the short tenured players are growing shorter, the cost to strike may be too much of a loss for those players that are Average or less.

I get your overall point, but I think there's a much better chance of a mutually-beneficial extension to be worked out between the Twins and Buxton depending on how things shake out on the other side of the CBA negotiations.  When he's talked about wanting to be a Twin his whole career, I haven't gotten the sense that he plans to retire in 2028.  Also, I'm guessing they already had that type of conversation with him.  Don't know that for sure, just a hunch.

I’m in the “it might take a little more” club, but another thing to consider is that he only needs 8.8 more bWAR to pass Hrbek and 13.3 to pass Oliva. Another four years like this one and he’s pushing Puckett.

It’s not at all inconceivable to imagine a 25 hanging on the wall.

Forgot he also missed 14 games to ribcage injury....40-30 almost certainly would have been reached plus 100 runs scored and probably 100 RBI also.
