Have We Seen the Last of Cole DeVries?

Given his history, lack of stuff, and struggles in Rochester, I have a strong feeling his career as a Twin is dead. He was a great story and I enjoyed rooting for him (still am), but I believe he's done.

I'm going to say for the Twins, he's done. We have many more starters ahead of him.

There's just too many....

Twins Starter Depth Chart

1 Correia

2 Diamond

3 Pelfrey

4 Deduno

5 Gibson

6 Walters

7 Hernandez

8 Hendriks

9 De Vries

10 Albers

And I put him over Albers solely because he's on the 40 man roster.

Maybe De Vries can hook onto another team?

I agree he won't become a big-team regular again, but he may catch another start at some point. He made it last year when the rotation imploded, in part due to injury. That could happen again. Also, since he's on the 40-man, there's always the chance for a spot start, like Hernandez last weekend. That's often more a function of who is ready and hasn't pitched recently rather than who has been most effective.

Interesting thread idea.

With May, Meyer, Albers, et al coming along it seems very much a long shot.

Too bad. Part of rooting for teams and getting too involved is feeling sad for these kids who work their ass off to fulfill a childhood dream, only to fall just short. Tough.

I, of course, never got anywhere near as close as they did, but I suspect they will find that to be of little consolation.

I corrected my mistake.

That depends on which Deduno shows up - he's kind of a split personality on the mound.

That is a good point, sometimes he's lights out, and sometimes he can't throw a strike.
