Would you take a far lesser return, let’s say a 3rd round pick; if you can offload 50+% of Watson’s remaining money owed? I wouldn't. Watson's salary would probably stop the team from spending on the IOL.

Yeah that was more of a general NFL question not Vikings specific. I don’t want Watson anywhere near the Vikings… But there are teams with tons of cap space who can’t realistically spend it all. I’m thinking a team like NE with $100 something million to play with. nicksaviking 1

Yeah, if I was a team like NE, I'd be interested. I'd just cut Watson before he even buys a plane ticket to Boston. Only issue with a team like NE is, that Garrett might be a bit old for their rebuild window. Not that NFL coaches actually think that way. They all think they can win every year.

He still got sacks, but he couldn't drop back into coverage. It's literally why they got rid of him and signed Greenard and Van Ginkel, whom the rest of the league had previously thought of as a lesser talents. And it is the reason why I'd be weary of Garrett. There are different styles of 3-4 OLB, Jonathan Greenard is one but he rarely drops into coverage and just had by far his best season after playing the first four years of his career as a 4-3 DE. Van Ginkel drops into coverage more than any other 3-4 OLB in the game, and Turner dropped into coverage a lot as well. Pat Jones was more in Greenard's type and rarely drops back too. Garrett would be fine like Greenard and Hunter.
