bean, are you seriously suggesting that MLB has more parity than, say, the NFL?  Based on "playoff turnover".

Just sell that to the fans in Colorado and Pittsburgh.

MLB is the ONLY major sports league without a cap and floor system of some type!  Why? Because they have the strongest players union that backs it star veteran players at the expense of young and MiLB players, and the ownership is content with the completely broken status quo. And the Commissioner has traditionally been unwilling to make any changes, too and is captive to the big owners.

My take as a full time fan(whether winning or losing),  is that, yes lowering concessions will probably make them more money. Why?  Well, I'm guessing there are many fans like myself who go to several games a year and don't spend much if anything at all on concessions.  However, game days are probably good days for Culvers, McD's, BK, and Wendys.  We always stop before going to the games.  Just no sense going to the games hungry, especially when the food isn't even as good as the fast food joints.  But what really gets me excited about going to the games is having a good competitve team to root for.  And being able to watch all the games on tv that I can't get to absolutely keeps me interested.  I missed a total of 5 games either at the stadium or on tv last year.  Tv cost me over $200 a month which I would not even subscribe to if it weren't for Minnesota sports.  So it all sounds pretty simple, make it available, affordable, and interesting and you will draw fans.  If you draw fans and they spend becuase it's affordable,  you make money.  But I guess I could be wrong.

In NBA they split the revenue either 50/50 or very close

MLB is 48%...so...

Neither care about fans or growing the sport, they care about taking what they can

As any laborer should. I don't care about the health of the company or the industry I work for after I leave them. That's entirely the interest of the owners.

Why should I watch and root for a franchise that will ALWAYS be at a major financial disadvantage to the Dodgers, the Yankees, the Mets, etc.?

While having a big market checkbook makes the offseason way more interesting, I don't think any fan cheers for a financial ledger during the season. The current system, preventing players from leaving a franchise for 6 years, protects small market teams quite well, to the point there have only been modern dynasties built with home grown talent. Supplemented and sustained with free agents, sure, but parity is quite strong in MLB.

I'm sorry, but MLB either commits to a salary cap at some point

The MLBPA will not go for that. Let's say, hypothetically, there was a deal struck where team control over a player was cut to 3 years in exchange for a Salary Cap. Do you think that helps a team like the Cheap Pohlad Twins?

Good! We should all have strong labor unions.

If the meddling is all in service to fans....I think I could get used to a long stretch where ownership doesn't nickel and dime us.  Even if it never pulls of a title.

Meddling has to be better than a catatonic state!
