I wanted Festa in the 7th and was shocked to see him.  The pitches to Ozuna were competitive, he didn't chase, he's a professional hitter.  OK, not the worst to walk their big power guy.  Roll the dice and give Festa one more guy.  It's almost like you're protecting your toddler from getting his feelings hurt rather than having him learn how to handle a tough situation.  Maybe if it's Sands instead of Thielbar, I might have been more willing to concede taking Festa out after the walk.

And in other games Rocco brings Margot in for defense in the later innings, I have seen better routes on a flyball by a Little Leaguer.

I think the right call was to start the 7th with a reliever. 

You're asking more from Festa than you've asked all year. 

They don't even ask em to do that in the minors.

Young. Strong. Has to get stretched out sometime. Steady progression. Ozuna was one to be careful with, too. It's Showtime. Baby players in the minors. Become a MLB player in the Show. Or not. One more batter...... we will never know......

I mean I'm all for it. But then train them to do it. Don't ask them to do what they've never asked before, NOW

 

Mathews is even a worse case. He hasn't thrown 90 pitches in a game in his entire professional career.

How do they expect him to do it in the big leagues?

We need C4 and Buck. Play through a bit of pain guys your team needs you! Can't do much about the pitching injuries unfortunately. This could be 2022 all over again. Time for a new training staff. Our guys are out way to long with minor injuries imho.
