Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Yes and no? I don't see a ton of hope, but if I squint, I almost can. So I'm not there, yet.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 No. And tanking doesn't really work in the NFL. Careers are too short, players are too competitive, and "any given sunday" is real. Vanimal46 1

I will say, if the Vikings get off to a really bad start like I expect, we should learn our lesson from last year and trade expiring contract players. gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Out of curiosity, who/what do we have that is potentially trade bait?

Let’s just pretend we are 2-6 or whatever at the trade deadline… Aaron Jones, Stephon Gilmore, Shaq Griffin easy flips to contenders if they have interest around the league. I would consider trading these guys if it doesn’t look like an extension is happening - Bynum, Byron Murphy Jr, Phillips I doubt this would be a mid season type of trade, but O’Niell could fetch a big return. I’d say this is very unlikely to happen.

I'd be all for trading most of these vets at the deadline if the team stinks, but while I think O'Connell has some job security, I'm not sure Adofo Mensah does. I think he'll do everything in his power to scrape 9 wins together this year. Which is the worst amount of wins to have.

TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Not having your 2nd and 3rd makes tanking less ideal this year. Though having your QB does give leverage to trade down. I just want to see development from Pace, Addison, Turner, and the defense looking like an asset going forward. Mike Sixel 1
