Explain to me how the Twins "ran themselves out of a run."

ok--better I should have said they ran themselves out of a potential run when the contact play didn't work. Not a lock they would have scored with 2 outs but more of a chance with a runner at 3rd rather than 1st. Of course when Vazquez fans, its all moot! Anyway, it was a tough loss.

I don't care about the contact play. It should have never come down to that. This game was over and the manager served it up on a silver platter because his spreadsheet said Alcala was pitching a full inning.

We see the same thing over and over and over again and things never change. We have the worst in game manager in baseball and it's not even close. We should send him to join his twin brother Gabe Kapler in the unemployment line.

That is your opinion and I disagree. You said earlier that Rocco will cost the team 15 wins this year. I just think that is ridiculous.

They should be up 4-5 game in first place right now and with most other managers we would be. We might even still have Sonny Grey because we all know how much he loved Rocco.

So with an average manager the Twins win 110 games this year. Holy shite you are much more of an optimist than I realized, lol.

OK. Maybe not 15. But at least 14. 😄

I have always been in the 'Earl Weaver, John Tortorella' camp that  hates losing ANY game. We all know you can't win 162, but you should want to. As a fan, I always want to see a win.

So losing like today stings like a hornet. I live in Rochester where the hockey team hasn't won it all since 1996; the baseball team since 1997; the former parent Orioles no WS since 1983; and then toss in the Buffalo Bills who have never won. So as i age out it would be nice to be able to win with one of my favorite teams. Twins are bare since 1991.

Thus if fans are upset with losses; upset with no championships; upset with strange managerial decisions, I totally get it. When you have a chance to sweep a series and you don't, yeah its upsetting for the fans who don't like losing (like me).

Monday morning Q-backing is a reality with long suffering fans. Watching Alcala give up 5 runs, when there were other pitchers ready to go defies logic. So being satisfied with 3 out of 4 for some of us, isn't good enough.

I attended a Rochester-Syracuse game Friday night. It was interesting observing the crowd of around 9,000. Some were peeled to their phones; many were at the concession stands; some were chatting animatingly with their friends, paying no attention to the game; some cheering for the opponent; some waiting out the on and off rain for the fireworks; biggest cheer was for the TacoBell K-man (if he whiffs everyone gets a free taco the next day); some actually cared about the game and cheered wildly when Rochester scored 7 in the 8th inning to blow the game open. Probably less than 25% knew the Red Wings record; that they were only 2 games out of 1st; that none of the players were recognizable without names on the back. And most don't care about that anymore at AAA. I care about the baseball--the winning. I'm becoming a real dinosaur.

When I complain about a loss, its not being 'negative' and I don;'t apologize for it. I just hate losing even when its unrealistic to think they should win them all. Only one team can win it all every year in every sport....and I want that one team to finally be one of my favorites. It has been far too long....

Disappointing loss to say the least. Lots of blame to go around. Lots to dislike in the events of the day. But name calling, bickering, dismissive behavior, disrespect are not answers to that. We have opinions. Like or dislike the manager, fine. Disagree all you want, fine. But bring your A-game to the table. Stop calling each other haters and apologists as a means to justify your arguments or discredit another’s.
