Plouffe does in fact go on the DL. According to mlb.com, he must serve all 15 days, because he is being disabled for a second, non-connected injury.

I don't want to pick on you Pseudo, but hasn't the constant complaint been that the Twins have carried "day to day" players for too long and DLed them anyway? The article I read seemed to indicate that the Twins thought they could retroactively DL Plouffe.

Yes, exactly. It is about time they come to their senses and stop playing shorthanded.

If a guy is hurt, you DL him. You don't play shorthanded for 4 or 5 days, only to DL him anyway.

Way too many times the last 2 years we have seen that happen.

If its an impact player, sure you wait around, because the difference between them and their replacement is generally pretty big.

For a guy like Plouffe, there is no reason to wait. Carroll will replace him at 3B, which isn't really a drop, if anything its an upgrade.

Baby steps better than baby crawl...I'll take any incremental advancement in their thinking over the previous status quo....

I think Carroll is a downgrade from Plouffe. What's more, it takes a versatile, capable player and slots him at a power position, which he is not. It will probably mean Mauer hitting #3 at least until Plouffe returns.

I do think PS was exercising some satire, that got taken literally.
