Rumor: Angels Reportedly Considering Ohtani Trade, A Reversal From Last Week

If I were the Angels I would settle for Walner & Polanco.  Maybe Maeda could establish some good rapport with Ohtani & then we can sign them both & have Japanese Twins.

Ohtani could make up for all the millions that the Twins spent on Tsuyoshi Nishioka, the Japanese infielder who broke his leg.

Unless the Twins plan on putting Buxton in the outfield full time or on the IL, the Twins are not a match in a trade for Ohtani. That doesn't even consider that the players the Angels would receive in return would be much more than has thus far been offered for the superstar P/DH.

Angels are gonna want a king's ransom for Ohtani even if he's less than a year from free agency.  This has Yankees or Dodgers written all over it.

5 days before the deadline, and the Angels are 52-49. 3.5 GB in the wild card, 6.5 GB in the AL West. Heating up a bit, going 7-3 in their last 10 games. 

In recent days, Baltimore and Tampa became the front runners to acquire Ohtani. Both organizations have highly rated systems and enough top 100 prospects to make something work. 

All of that said, I still don’t see the Angels trading Ohtani. They’re never going to get full value in a trade for the best player on planet Earth. This is a type of trade that defines legacies for GMs. I think too much is at stake, and they keep him to try and make the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
