Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I hate (playing against) that guy (pedroia). He needs to start arguing strikes. Maybe they'll toss him in MN.
J-Dog Dungan Provisional Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Yeah, not sure if avoiding Lester is such a good thing with the way Buchholz has started the season (looking at non-sabermetrical numbers, anyway).
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Clay Buccholz is fugly. Was just thinking the same.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Clay Buccholz is fugly. A wet dog comes to mind.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 It's possible that Buchholz just doesn't wash his hair... OR... Here's a list of possible substances in his hair:1. Quaker State Motor Oil2. Plutonium3. Kryptonite4. Keith Richards Urine5. KY Jelly6. Vegemite 7. Squid Ink8. Robin Regurgitation.9. Raindrops kept falling on his head.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 OK, quick question - how many people bought a Powerball ticket today? How many thing the Twins should buy one, to help solve their payroll issues?

Looking to take over for David Letterman?
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Yeah, not sure if avoiding Lester is such a good thing with the way Buchholz has started the season (looking at non-sabermetrical numbers, anyway). Yeah but games are not "run by computer simulation". I have asked for permission to use that line from Mike Wants Wins and I'm assuming permission will come. If not... I will respect his cease and desist.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Looking to take over for David Letterman? yep... Trying to put a gap in my teeth as we speak... I never thought it would be as painful as it is... I think I have a better understanding for the need for novocaine now.

Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Haven't been able to watch most of Worley's starts. It's pretty clear why he can't make it six innings.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Of course he finds his "out pitch" as I post that.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I believe that was the first swinging strike (and even that was a foul tip) induced by Worley this game. Another fun fact: running total of 0-2 counts that have not resulted in a strikeout so far: 3.

It's pretty clear why he can't make it six innings. i had great seats from his last start behind home plate. The guy really needed to keep the ball down and mix it up. He was up up up and he got scored on... He was down and he was effective. I also think he needs to use a breaking pitch more to off balance the hitters a little.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 3 out of? Why do I want to break into a Meat Loaf song and know I'm getting the lyrics wrong.
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Why do I want to break into a Meat Loaf song and know I'm getting the lyrics wrong.I'm no help.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 3 out of? 3. My bad for unclear wording. Worley 0-2 counts: 3 Resultant K's: 0
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Worley better figure it out quick because I don't see many runs off Bucholz tonight.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Why do I want to break into a Meat Loaf song and know I'm getting the lyrics wrong. We could talk about that all night. But that won't get us nowhere.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Worley better figure it out quick because I don't see many runs off Bucholz tonight. It can all change on a dime. Unfortunately... None of the Twins are compensated poorly enough to carry around dimes.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 3. My bad for unclear wording. Worley 0-2 counts: 3 Resultant K's: 0 I think it's 5 0-2 counts, and they all resulted in outs.
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 3. My bad for unclear wording. Worley 0-2 counts: 3 Resultant K's: 0 That's what we mean when we say pitching.
B Richard Provisional Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 You can lead a Worley to a mound... but you can't make him throw strikes
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Talking of The Sandlot (on the broadcast). Does anybody know if it is true that Bonnes hasn't seen it? And he calls himself a "baseball guy"?
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I'd be interested in how many meat of the plate pitches are thrown in 0-2 or 1-2 counts. I can't stand that.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 That's what we mean when we say pitching. What it says to me is "minor league stuff." YMMV.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Worley makes it 0-4,but gets the DP.
