strumdatjag Verified Member Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 www.japanball.com has the infamous Tsuyoshi Nishioka batting .297 for the Hanshin Tigers. No news on his turning of double plays, however.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I'm glad for him. He was a good player in Japan and should be again. If he continues to do well, maybe the Twins will call him up.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I hope he gets food poisoning and spends the rest of the season on the DL
ThePuck Provisional Member Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I hope he gets food poisoning and spends the rest of the season on the DL Yeah, forget that guy...I mean how dare he A: Sign with a team that wanted him, fulfilling a dream to become a MLB player.B: Break his leg.C: After not doing well, ask for his unconditional release forfeiting money owed to him. D: Apologize to everyone for not working out, accepting all responsibility. Forget that guy!
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I just wish his wife would have come around more often.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I might have thought his charity work with cancer patients and war orphans and baby seals would have turned VodkaDave and BadSmerf's opinions around.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I hope he gets food poisoning and spends the rest of the season on the DL Why?
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Why? Wasn't VD just making a humorous counterpoint to my message of good wishes toward the player? That's how I took it.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I just wish his wife would have come more often. That's why she left him.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 That's why she left him. She's actually a lovely woman, and I wish them both the best.

strumdatjag Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Update - He's batting .279 (somehow that's good enough to be the 11th best batting average in his division)
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Dave, do you still have that Nishioka youtube video?
johnnydakota Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Apperently it is only an offense if one puts down ownership, or management or person who provides inside information? But it is ok to run down a guy who doesnt speak the language.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 What does speaking the language have to do with anything?
cmathewson Provisional Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Nothing against him as a man, because he's a good egg. But .279? Really? That's why I opened this thread? He hit like .336 and won a batting title the year before the Twins signed him. Now he's holding his own at a league a notch below the IL. Meh.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Dave, do you still have that Nishioka youtube video? Perhaps[video=youtube;Q3b5aOelFL4]
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 LOL thanks to whoever reported my in jest comment about Nishioka and got me reprimanded....didn't realize we were in freaking church here.
