ESPN put up a featured article on their baseball home page about Miguel Sano.

It has some good quotes from the budding star and it gives some idea about when he could be promoted. His manager thinks Sano is ready for the next level but only time will tell.

Here's the link to the story: Star turns for Twins' Miguel Sano

My advice to Miguel: Let your next English word be "humble".

I hear ya, but I think he's also a product of youth, machismo culture, and a language barrier. Unless he starts acting up, I don't really care what comes out of his mouth.

The guy freely acknowledges his humble origins and the importance of humility towards the end of the article. He is still just a kid. I personally admire his ambition and confidence. To be the best, you have to believe you are the best. You also need to have the skill to back it up. From what I've seen in read, I truly believe Sano has both.

Don't get me wrong, as a fan, I love a guy that has swag and can back it up.

Joining a clubhouse that has some guys with the international background will be good for him and the others.

Maybe all of Valencia's swag wore off on Sano.

Did you read the article?

The last quote from Sano:

"I love being filmed, but I don't lose my focus," he said. "I never lost it when I was signed and got what might be for a guy with a humble origin a lot of money. I'm a humble guy, from a humble family, who has got much advice from many people, including big league players."

This is a kid who had 1 movie made about him, another in the works, made 3 MM USD and is destroying a pitcher friendly league.

In today's day-and-age he could be much worse.

I did, though somehow between finishing the article and posting I must have forgotten about that part.

I'm a big fan of Sano, believe me. But his quotes come off a little Harper-ish and that could rub guys the wrong way. More so players than fans. He could be worse, obviously.

There was a post during spring training about how the organization is working to change his attitude. (Paraphrased, but came from a team employee.)

Personally, I can't wait til he's a Twin, but I'm not dealing with him every day

I just watched the movie about Sano on Netflix and was amazed. MLB so screwed up his eligibility review that everyone ese but Pittsburg backed off. Then the Pittsburg scout so p/o'd the Sano family that the Twins got him at the last minute. Plus, due to the delay in the eligibility determination, we got him for about $1.5 million less than what he was expected to get.

So far it looks like a gift from the baseball Gods. Then the team ahead of us passes on Buxton. Maybe it's coming up towards Minnesota's time. But, of course, those of us native of Minnesota know we aren't worthy of it ever being our time.....LOL!
