This is the lineup I want, sans Carroll. Plug Plouffe in there and this is something I can watch.

I liked Carroll at 3rd today, professionally competent fielding and timely hitting is something I can watch- 3 times a week or so, spelling each of the other IF positions.

I've had some conversations with one of the official scorers. It's good you pose this as a problem with the game as a whole; this is the standard universally in MLB, and is not a problem with the Twins per se.

Was he sober at the time? Are they ever sober during the games?

Was he saying that the "universal standard" in baseball is essentially no standards of defensive accountability?

So far, parmelee looks like a better OF than Arcia
He's made the fewest mistakes of all the outfielders on the active roster, with the possible exception of Ramirez, who has played like 20 innings. Parmelee hasn't hit, but I'm pleasantly surprised by his "D".

This is a cleaned up and TD-moderator-approved version of what he puts up with all the time. My skin is too thin to do his job. His isn't.

I am pretty sure this was not what he was saying. The approved treatment of the standard for "ordinary effort" is different than yours (and mine).

It was an eye-opener for me to find that scorers are not the drunken cigar-chomping stumblebums I used to think they were. They had a good scorers' panel at the last SABR convention, as well.

I would love the opportunity to sit down with one of these guys to get a better understanding of their thought process, which is baffling at times.

May I request a tutorial from Mr Hageman that shows us how KC is doing so well? He is making the big bad AL look pretty tame. Are there new pitches? New patterns? We could learn a lot from him.......
