adorduan Verified Member Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 I'm in Colorado on vacation, so I can see the Twins on ESPN. So far so good. My first look at Ober, I like what I see, there is potential there.

If they do keep him as a starter, hopefully he can start reaching the 6th inning more often, and into 2022. Jax is barely a prospect at this point, and the FO knows it, or they would have protected him in the Rule 5 draft in either of the past two years. He's a classic case of "very good minor league track record, but doesn't have the stuff to get MLBers out". It’s possible that’s the case too. Especially if he can add a tick or 3 on his fastball moving to the pen. I am impressed with him so far as a starter. Wouldn’t mind opening up his pitch count on days like today when he’s feeling it.
twinfan Verified Member Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Too bad Simmons couldn't get it down. Sano would have scored and Simmons would have been safe. However, that's what happens when teams aren't going well. I hope we don't lose this 4-3 or 5-4 because we would have lost it in the 3rd inning. I still don't see why Rocco doesn't sacrifice with Gordon and a man on 2nd with no outs. But Rorsvelt can't hit. Hoping we can get good relief pitching today. Ober has looked good but they may not let him pitch much more. I never could see that.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Sox announcers keep wondering when they can get to our bullpen ... they have been complimentary of Ober, but know he won't pitch the whole game and can't wait to get to our bp
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Per ESPN broadcast: Ober's high school catcher was current Vikings OL Garrett Bradbury.

twinfan Verified Member Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Glad they let Ober pitch. It was shaky but he got through it. Now let's get him that win

stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Excellent outing for Ober. He was walking the tightrope his last two innings, but he still got some swings and misses in the 4th and 5th.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 I'd guess Bailey's night is Ober.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 lol ... Sox announcers ... 'WELCOME TO THE BALLGAME MINNESOTA BULLPEN' ...
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Speaking of complete games, the other day I noticed Berrios has blank ink next to his name for two complete games in 2018. Modern baseball isn’t awesome.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 And with that, I'm going back to my cross stitch project ... almost done ...
