Andrew Thares Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 The Minnesota Twins were cruising through the first half of the season, as they stood at an impressive 20-10 record at the halfway point. However, the second half of the season has gotten off to a dreadful start, as the Twins have dropped five straight, including getting swept by the Tigers in Detroit over the weekend. Today the Twins return home to face the Chicago White Sox, though the big news of the days expects to come before the game, with the MLB Trade Deadline at 3 pm central time today.Yesterday’s Game RecapTigers 3, Twins 2: This Is Not What You Want TodayTwins vs White Sox 7:10 pm CDTBetting Line: MIN +130, CWS -140, O/U: 9 Twins Starter: Rich Hill, LHP 3.55 ERA Rich Hill will be making his third start back from the IL stint that caused him to miss about three weeks. His task this time out will be difficult against this young and dangerous White Sox lineup. So far this season, the White Sox rank second in Major League Baseball with a team wRC+ of 121. Having spent his last few years in the National League, Hill does not have a ton of experience against this White Sox lineup. Here is how he has fared against this current White Sox roster. Over his past two starts, Giolito has thrown 16 scoreless innings, while striking out 13 batters and walking just 1 on both starts. After getting rocked by this Twins lineup on Opening Day, Giolito has been dominate in all but one of his next six starts. Over those six starts, Giolito has an ERA of just 1.80 and is holding opposing hitters to a staggeringly low .463 OPS. This struggling Twins lineup will certainly have its hands full trying to get things going back on track tonight. Rosterman Verified Member Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 No need to trade. It is an odd ball season anyway. Be said if the Twins don't make some level of the playoff. That is when the real play begins.
